just saw the breaking news that the Buffton U team bus on it's way to Fort Myers suffered a horrific accident very early AM in Atlanta, driving thru a guardrail/fence & off the Northside Dr. overpass, then dropping onto I-75. there were casualties & I-75 is closed while they attend to the accident.

Bluffton University is a small Mennonite school near Toledo playing in the Heartland Athletic Conference

I just received a telephone call from a Webster in Atlanta and she has volunteered to open her house to anyone needing a place to stay in Atlanta that has been affected by this tragedy. Anyone needing assistance can email me at RU4Fungo@aol.com and I will give more details about how to get in touch with her. As she said ---"this is family".

The Lord be with them.

I am not sure why these things happen either.

Prayers and thoughts with the team.
I'm on the same page as the rest of you. Prayers scrambling through shocked and sad territory.

Who'sOnFirst and all of the others...your decency, generosity, and compassion is absolutely inspiring...and needed.

Thank you all for reaching out and representing this great baseball community so well.

If any of us can help let's step up...even if it's just getting families in touch with Who'sOnFirst and all of the others who have offered help. Imagine how any one of us would greatly appreciate this generous offer if we were in their very unfortunate and sad situation.

I'm so saddened by this, Chris G. and the tornado victims, I'm speechless, but I'm thankful I have help to offer prayers through my tears.....

quote:
Romans 8:26-27
...by our faith - the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how to pray as we should; but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows, or course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God's own will.

Thank you for being a community that cares and shares.

We lived in Atl for many years and still have many friends in the area that I could contact regarding help with accomodations as well. I believe the Mennonite community to be a very close and strong community that will rally and provide support ... please reach out if needed.
No words can put this in perspective. The tornados that killed the students yesterday and now this. Life is so fragile. Why kids? Why not me. I will be praying for all the families. We as a family need to so something when the time is appropriate for this baseball team and families since this is a baseball family. Flowers, scholarship fund drive, heck I dont know but something. Im going to have my team do something in the near future to honor these young men.
Donna...

The University is collecting information on sources of help that, thank God, are flowing into their switchboard today.

If you, or anyone, can help please call their switchboard @ (419)358-3000...be patient...they're obviously getting many calls this morning.

Thank you, and others, who are willing to step up to the plate and help.

Let's all count our blessings as TPM has suggested...it could be any one of us today...trying, under the most difficult conditions, to marshall the energy needed to start sorting things out.

Left Coast checking in ... just saw TPM's thread and am stunned ref the bus accident, to say the least. Prayers coming from So Cal for the surviving players and coaching staff, the loved ones who have lost players, and the school.

I, too, wonder why these things happen and have come to accept the reality that my finite mind cannot comprehend all of God's infinite design and plans. And so, as Still Learning has pointed out in the quoted scripture, I am depending on the Holy Spirit to intervene.
