I have occasionally wondered if anyone would ever discover a "new pitch"? Something that breaks twice, or dipsy do's or something unusual...

I watched Dickey just dominate my O's last night, and it seems his knuckleball is right out of the Disney laboratories. Who'd have thunk it- a knuckleball thrown with a bit of velocity?

The guy is virtually unhittable. His knuckler comes in sometimes in the low 80's and seemingly drops 12" to 18" in the last 4-5 feet before it reaches the plate. And somehow he throws it for strikes. I pity the poor umpire-you just don't see anyone else throw what he is throwing.

People love talking about him. The smart guys on the radio said that Wakefield was 14-1 with a 1.65 ERA in the first half of his best season. I hope RA keeps it up for years.

He is roundly supported and admired around here, from a very athletic family. My wife took our boy to one of his book signings in May. Few people were there so the boy got to quiz him for a while.

There are many wonderful men playing MLB and it seems like RA belongs among the best in terms of talent and honesty.
Dickey has a 2.00 ERA He has a 50-some consecutive inning streak without an earned run. Now he throws two consecutive one-hitters.

Just curious, is this more impressive than a single perfect game?

It's two soon for Matt Cain but Phil Humber hasn't been good at all since his PG and the last thing we heard from Dallas Braden was him chewing out A-Rod for crossing the mound (which was AWESOME by the way)

Just curious what you think.

Already this year Matt Cain has tossed, in addition to the "perfecto," a one hitter, two hitter and three hitter.
He has an ERA of 2.34 for the season, the best WHIP in MLB this year, and has distinguished himself as one of the very top pitchers in all of MLB, and he is getting better.
Back to back one hitters by Dickey is amazing, just amazing. His story of overcoming adversity and injury makes what he is doing even better to appreciate!!!
I'll take Cain, though, for any game and after the 2010 post season, any big game.
