Is there a way to find out if a school does indeed use its scholarships? For example, I think that D2 schools are allowed 7 scholarships. For a particular school, how do you know how many they use? I've been looking around websites, but can't find any info on this.
thx!

There is a very good book that is published by The Sport Source each year that is sport specific. We purchased the baseball book and found it had detailed information about each school and their baseball program. (i.e. coaches name, in state / out of state cost, enrollment, sat requirements, # of scholarships, degrees offered, roster makeup) The most referenced info for my son was the female to male ratio's listed. Smile

Here is a link to the The Sport Source if you would like more information. If you click on the sample link it will show a D3 school however all levels of schools are listed in the book. I think it cost about $35 but I can't tell you how helpful it was in researching all the schools my son was showing interest in.

I think I might have even started it so I'll see if I can dig it up. I'm not sure if we ever came up with anything conclusive but it might be interesting anyway.
Thanks!

It does have alot of interesting info, but you have to kinda read between the lines a bit. For example, if a school averages under $1K of expenses per player, you can probably assume no scholly's.

One relatively low-level D1 we're looking at averaged just under $4K, or about $100K of baseball expenses. But who knows, they could have put that towards field renovations or batting cages, etc. It a bit of a leap to assume that one particular year's expenses are scholarship related.

But still another resource - thanks!!
