I have seen it done at three different universities. One was a very simple introduction of seniors in between games of the weekend DH. The second was basically the same except the coach had plaques with an action photo of the player made up, family was on the field with the player and the coach spoke briefly about each player. The third school had a senior picture made into a banner and hung on the fence by the dugout. Each player received a framed jersey on the field accompanied by family. The team had a meal after the games for the seniors and families. There was a video of them during the season, the coach spoke about each of them and presented each with a different inspirational book. Each player also had a table with a centerpiece of their number to keep. Quite a wide variety. These were all small private schools, DII and NAIA, and I think the differences were reflective of the differences in the coaches, and to some extent, the school/team finances. I think some acknowledgement of the effort and dedication is appropriate.
