From what I know Sonoma State is a quality, top flight DII program....in all respects.
Scroll down through this "Ask..." section and you'll find a thread about Sonoma Sate that has some more detailed recent feedback.

San Jose State is a very competitve program who made a trip to the CWS about 5 years ago. Since then, their coach was pretty ill, left the program for a year or so, program suffered, then returned. They appear on the way back up.
San Jose State has generally relied on late signs and JC transfers to compete in a tough conference (Rice included). They have held their own or excelled quite nicely.
