SLC has to feel good at this point...
Go to FM, blow them away with 17 hits. Used up a majority of their bullpen, and hit all of those guys well. Play today at home with the 12-0/<1.00 era/125+K guy on the mound. Have to win 1 of the next 2. Those aren't bad odds.

It's all predicated on how SLC hit's Lefties, because they will see a good one today. If they do, then this deal is over. If not, BP will give them a hard time, and they'll play another one tomorrow.

Their record is definitely deceiving, as we all know what happened. But there's no doubt about it, they have a quality ballclub and certainly look like they belong this deep in the playoffs.

WOW!! one team showed up and the other forgot to set it's alarm clock!!!!!

Talk about getting kicked and liking it! SLC played against a school that was just happy to be there.

All I know is we have been in tough situations before; none quite like this; against a quality team; BP will have to be at his best.

It will be interesting to see how we fight back and figure out a way to win one game.

if we are able to do it; bring on game 3
Just trying to make a point that SLC had the easiest road in the last round into State. BTW, who did martin and coppell beat this year? no one! lol

SLC will have their hands full next Friday, they will need that luck to even compete with PW. Read today's DMN. GT is in another league from AM, Coppell FM etc.. and you see what PW did to them.

Good Luck.
I believe that the UIL state tournament pairings are determined by a combination of records (top two on opposite sides of the bracket) and a coin flip to determine which side the remaining two teams are placed. I don't think that the brackets shown on the UIL website PDF's have anything to do with the pairings.

We have friends on both PW and SLC, so it is hard to pick. I will say, however, that I believe SLC played in the tougher district 5-5A during the regular season and they have worked very hard yo get to this point.
I don't believe that you should slight either team.
Good luck to both.

While I agree that they have had a fine year, there is a reason why PW is ranked #1 in the State and Nationally by coaches, scouts etc.. they have way too many bats for any team to beat them if they are on (see GT scores). Obviously, if they have an off day (I don't think there are any more Jungmanns left in the Finals to make them have an off day) than other teams, especially good ones, may have a chance. One game series are tough on all.
well if flower mound was considered the weakest team. i would have to say the next weakest would have to be SLC. watching both the flower mound SLC games and if you saw them also, you would agree nothing went fm's way. starting pitcher in first game goes two perfect innings and then gets stepped on by the ump and his foots gets hurt bad, on top of that a outfielder didn't play good either. so if a few things go fm's way a different team might be headed down there. so in MY MY personal opinion SLC is going to get it handed to them when all four teams meet in round rock this weekend.
SLC Carroll may not have the most talented line up of the teams left in the tournament, but they are more talented than they get credit for.

But, the thing they have is a very good coach in Coach Hughes and they are very well bonded as a TEAM. They are not looking at where they are going to play in college, etc., simply they are there to win. That is why they do.

What he said.
Your center field mis-played two routine pop flies. It did result in extending the inning but to try and pin 9 runs on that young man is not fair to him or to SLC.

There are 9 players on the field at any one time. Successful teams win as one and lose as one. Nobody gets chucked under the bus after a loss.

But taking your own example, SLC still wins. So what's your point? SLC isn't as talented as the other teams and should consider themselves fortunate to be there? Just remember this; I'm sure there were people who support Hebron, Arlington-Martin, Coppell, and Amarillo who all thought that SLC was living on borrowed time and they would be the ones to bring Carroll back to the pack. The thing is, they are sitting at home and we are headed to Dell field.

Like I said, get over it. There is always next year...
