HUGE congrats to Ryan Mottern, son of OUBsbMom, for getting the Win on the mound last night against #1 Rice (Rice was riding a 14-game winning streak into the game).

I realize this might be confusing, but yes, this was Ryan Mottern the pitcher, not Ryan Mottern the hitter. Same kid, different hat - or at least a different glove!

As a hitter, Ryan is batting .360 with 16 RBIs and a .560 slugging %. Absolutely amazing!

Congrats to OUBsbMom and Ryan!!!

Congrats to Ryan and to mom and to Joe Dunigan, who is from Chicagoland.

Interestingly, Will McDaniel, Rice's starting pitcher and Brian Friday, the starting second baseman, were teammates on the Upper Deck Cougars team that I coached at the USA Baseball Junior Olympics in Tucson, Arizona, in 2002.
