Hi everyone I've been reading these boards and have found some really good info. This will be my first post. I've been thinking about it everyday and I decided to ask for advice from people that are experienced in college ball and know what they're talking about.

So, I'm a sophomore in high school right now. I can play anywhere on the field, but I usually play 3rd and pitch. This is my second school in two years, so I'm forced to sit out this season. I planned on going to a different school next year, but I've been weighing the advantages and disadvantages. I hate the school I'm at (I was forced to go for the time being). However, had it not been for the eligibility rule, I would've been a starter this year, and probably one of the best on the team. My team isn't that good, but I would have a very good chance to standout against the other schools in our district. Baseball isn't taken very seriously here, which is the opposite of what I want.

On the other hand, I could go to a private school that is VERY competitive when it comes to baseball. They go deep into the playoffs each year and sending players to the next level is common for them. I'd have to sit out ANOTHER year, but would it be possible to play my senior year only and still get attention from colleges? I love the school, but I don't know if its worth it to sit out another season. Its my dream to make it to the bigs one day, and I want to make the right decision. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Do you play on any competitive summer teams?
Yeah I play in a rec league every summer, but I'm looking for a travel team thats a little more competitive so I can improve more. I'm also thinking about quitting football so I can play fall ball as well.

You say you had to leave school one because of problems---does that mean you have a black mark on your record? Does it mean you were thrown out of school one?

More here than meets the eye
Right, I wasn't allowed to come back the next year because of academic problems. Grades are no longer a problem though.
Sounds like the wisest thing to do is put down the ball and bat and concentrate on schoolwork, settle in and not keep bouncing around because of baseball. By playing baseball, it will take too much time away from the books and the grades will slip. This is going on the assumption the grades were raised back to a passing level due to not playing and spending time on the schoolwork. You should be doing whats best academically. Baseball is extra-curricular, therefore its secondary to any decisions made athletically.

As for getting noticed only playing senior year, that can definitely happen. Besides, most players who look to go on past high school get noticed playing summer ball anyway.
