I've seen her speedy son play in person.  Batting leadoff lately, he's a blast to watch while looking all of about 15 years old.

Congrats to Blue10 & her son, T.E.   On another note, I hope justbaseball doesn't mind me sharing the Three Strikes write up that Aaron Fitt of Baseball America did on UW.  His son received some much deserved love in the article.

Last series of the season, PHCC swept a doubleheader over Surry.   Son went 0-4 in the 1st game, but went 5-7 in game two with 3 singles, a double (his 22nd) and a triple.  School record for doubles is 23.  Had he stopped at 2nd on the triple he would have tied it.  Has one more chance to tie or break the record tomorrow.  Final regular season game is tomorrow.

PHCC will advance to the Regional playoffs as the #2 seed.

Nice!

I know he's been waiting for more opportunities, having done well with his earlier ones.  Congrats for coming through in the championship game!

Continued congratulations.  It is enjoyable following and hearing about the successful efforts of our HSBBW family members!

Thank you.  I enjoyed and have enjoyed reading everyone's stories, especially the heart and determination of all of your boys.  We share the ups/downs and the love of the sport.

Last update of the spring, he didn't have a great outing during the Sooner Athl Conf tourney but received positive end of season feedback and had his scholarship doubled!

Again, best of luck to your boys and may they stay healthy.

Awesome.  Great stuff.  Very happy for Nick and BOF!  I'm doing my own happy dance for him.

Update on the NJCAA Div II Region X tournament.  PHCC (#2 seed) lost to Lenoir CC (#7 seed) in the first round on Friday, but rebounded with a 11-2 win over Wake Tech CC (#6 seed).   PHCC will play at 10 am tomorrow - awaiting the loser of SECC vs Surry CC. Son was 1-4 with a double in the first game.

It's gonna be tough to get to the championship round through the loser's bracket, but if they play like they have all season it is a possibility.  Go Patriots!

After a hard fought game, PHCC lost to Catawba Valley 8-5.  CV scored 5 runs in the 5th inning.  PHCC fought back with 2 runs in the 6th and 3 in the 7th to tie the game, but CV scored 3 in the 8th and held on to advance.

PHCC finished the tournament 2-2.  Final season record was 38-16.  It was still a great year for the Patriots and for first year Coach Jones.

Son has yet to decide where to go next.  He has had several coaches including the coaches from Guilford College and Bridgewater College interested in him.

Well, we played our conference tournament this weekend and basically stunk.  Single elimination tournament and we lost 1st game 16-6.  5 errors.  Bballson did not pitch well.  Came in down 7-6 with a 1-0 count on the batter.  Walked him on a 3-2 count.  Gave up a single on a chopper over the 3rd baseman's head.  Then hit two guys in a row and he was out.  Next guy came in and allowed all the baserunners to score and two of his own.  It was an ugly game all around.  We scored 6 runs in the first 4 innings and didn't score after that.

Good news is, we still made the NCAA regional tournament as the 3 seed.  I REALLY hope we pick up our game by Thursday when the tournament starts.

bballman,

Congratulations on making the Regional tourney, they are some great competition!

We also made it as third seed in our regional after slipping and losing in our conference tourney championship game. That's the good news. The bad news is that there waits mighty Tampa University with their 47-2 record. We plan to give it a good fight though because anything can happen when good teams meet. We open against Florida Southern Thursday at 7 PM. Just got back from Birmingham AL and now will head to Tampa Wednesday!

Good luck three bagger. I hope we don't lose the first game, or we wind up playing Lander - who's not far behind Tampa and has won 17 in a row. 4 out of the 6 teams in our regional are from our conference, so we know them pretty well and have a good shot against them, other than Lander, who we didn't play this season. Wish the best for all of you heading into the post season.

UPDATE:

3 games left out of 54 before the tourney begins next week. Looks like I will end up attending at least 42 games. I managed to not lose my job, logged 8,000 plus miles on the benz, over 120 hours windshield time, ate a boat load of hot dogs, met some super nice fans and families. Enjoyed many after game chipotle meals with my son and his team mates(thinking about buying stock). It went by so fast and I can't wait to start all over next year. PO Jr is off to his summer ball assignment(6 hours away) on May 30 for a 48 game season.

As most of you know, it's a grind! Full time baseball, full academic schedule, mandatory study halls, meetings, travel, curfew and somehow finding a little time for yourself! Needless to say we re very proud! Hats of to all the players out there that do all this with a smile on there face.

All said and done, PO Jr had a great freshman year. I'm sure if you ask him, he would have liked to get more innings, there still time for that.

Stats:

18.2 IP all in relief, 1.45 ERA, 3-0 & SV, 12 APP, 11H, 3R, 3ER, 5BB, 9K's & OBA .175

Very thankful for all the blessings and very thankful for all the support and encouragement we have received from this site! Long live hs baseball web and all it's members.

Just a quick update.  Coaches have been coming out of the woodwork to talk to him.  In addition to Guilford and Bridgewater,  he has been contacted by Mary Washington University (DIII), UVA-Wise (D2), and Limestone (SC) (D2).  Both D2's have put forth scholarship money on the table.  Look's like he has a decision to make soon.
