Schaumburg Seminoles won 5-0, Bloomingdale Travelers won 6-2, and Top Tier won 10-5. Elk Grove and Naperville also played last night. The Bombers and Crystal Lake Cyclones play their first game of the tournament tonight. The Bombers game is at Trout Park at 5:30.
Naperville Renegades beat the Elk Grove Travelers 20-8
Naperville beat Elk Grove 20-8.
From what I hear Naperville can real hit the ball.
From what I hear Naperville can real hit the ball.
The Northern IL. Bulldogs defeated the Bombers 4-0 last night at Trout Park. The Bulldogs have a nice team. The Bombers pitched well but just couldn't get a big hit to put some runs on the board. The Kenosha Bobcats won 5-1 over the Lake in the Hills Thunder and the Fox Valley Royals won 11-3 against the Cyclones. Not sure of the final score between Streamwood and the Homer Crush. The score was 1-0 Streamwood in the 4th inning when I left. The weather will probably cancel tonight's games. It looks like probably a two game format on Saturday to advance to the playoff round on Sunday.
As of 3:30 all games for Friday night are on except for the Highwood Braves vs. New Trier Thunder at Loyola.
Currently at 5:30 its raining very strong in my area. I'm looking forward to good weather tomorrow. Alot of very good games scheduled to be played tomorrow.

Sulli,
It's nice to see you go to bat for kids that used to play with your son or for you as a coach regardless of the years between then and now. VERY classy! And I see you do it a lot on this board.
Hope to see you at the fields this year and I'll buy the dogs.
The Fox valley Royals defeated Crystal Lake Cyclones 11-3. Tisting9, you must be a secret Fremd fan, there are many good players on those teams, not just the three you listed.
I forgot, Homer and Streamwood tied 2-2, to reply to a previous posting.

Hope Joey is doing well...truly miss watching him play in the infield making tough plays look easy. Where is he playing this summer ?
Dalpos talent speaks for itself . I just have to speak out when i read comments that defy logic and border on insulting ..some people have no clue whatsoever . Ive had the pleasure over the years of watching Joey, Dalpo , and the big guys kid play the middle infield as well as anyone ive ever seen . Plus ..they all can hit the heck out of the ball.

Today Naperville won 4-3 over Top Tier and the Seminoles won 11-2 over the Sparks. The Richmond Rockets won 4-3 against the Royals and Top Tier won 13-1 over Highwood. The Bombers won 7-5 over Janesville but needed to win against Richmond tonight to advance to the playoffs on Sunday and we lost 7-1. All the scores from Saturday's games are posted. The only undefeated teams with 3-0 records are the Schaumburg Seminoles and Naperville Renegades. Both teams are really good. The top 10 teams made the playoff round tomorrow. Here are the seeds going into Sunday's playoff round. #1 Schaumburg Seminoles, 2 Naperville Renegades, #3 Richmond Rockets, #4 Kenosha Bobacats, #5 Northern Illinois Bulldogs, #6 Top Tier, #7 McHenry Hurricanes, #8 Bloomingdale Travelers, #9 Elgin Rippers, #10 Orland Park Sparks. Playoff round starts at 10:00 Sunday morning with the #7 McHenry Hurricanes vs #10 Orland Park Sparks and #8 Bloomingdale Travelers vs #9 Elgin Rippers. The Crystal Lake Bombers finished with a respectable 1-2 record. I know the coaching staff was proud of their efforts. Terrific tournament and I look forward to hopefully catching a game or two on Sunday.
The scores are posted on the Schaumburg Seminole website, under slugfest schedule.

I am not affiliated with the FV Royals, but know some of the guys on the 16 and 18 yo teams.
The Seminoles 16U Slugfest starts Wednesday (6/4) and runs through Sunday. Same locations - Trout, Wing, Westminster, Elgin CC and Judson. Teams include Sparks AL & NL, Top Tier, Cincy Flames, and Seminoles 16U NL/AL and 15U, Naperville's Reds and Renegades. Should be another good one.

Hey Papi...the tournament was loaded, it was a great place for travel baseball. The Fox Valley Royals, Naperville Renegades and many other teams someone listed above were there.
Thanks for the Caddy Shack quote, love that movie.

There was a lot of big time talent there, there is no doubt about that.
300 posted the website for the next tournament, it is on the Seminole website under brackets, there are 28 teams.

Defender,
It has been a while since I posted however today it is merited. When you are asked a question about top talent of a specific tournament and only list the the names of the players of the team you are affiliated with you the team you really look a bit silly in my view. By the way did your boys sweep the tournament with all that talent?
Here we go again.... I knew something smelled bad..
JKennedy - Your intuition is right on. I just responded to biggerpapi's question, with maybe just a little stir of the pot. I will now duck and cover.
If Defender wants to promote some of the players on his Fox Valley Royal team, that's his decision. I'm sure some of the players he listed are very talented players with bright futures.
All the players that Defender listed as top Freshman on his list happen to be members of the Fox Valley Royals team. There is nothing wrong with given some press to your respective team on this board. Although, lets be objective. The Fox Valley Royals finished with a 1-2 record in the Slugfest Tournament last weekend and the Royals didn't make the playoffs. The catcher on their team is very solid though. A very good blocker with a strong arm.
I'd say it's a little premature to name certain 15u teams the "best in the state". There is no way people know whose on what team and they have a great knowledge of the talent at the 15u level across the state of Illinois. I just don't think anyone has seen enough freshman or been to a bunch of freshman games to make that claim about certain travel teams. I guess your going on reputation and/or hype.
I am not a coach for FVR, I saw they came back as an organization after a very successful run in the 1990's. By the way, I know it was their first tournament through a friend, check the scores against all these supposed great teams when they are still trying to sort the team out. They will also be playing in the Seminole 16u tournament. So go sniff somewhere else.
Sorry, biggerpapi, didn't mean to "sniff you" my apologies. There was awesome talent at the tournament, they just don't hand out rosters or scorecards, so I don't know names. I would assume a major league scout can judge talent?
Be careful papi... You're heading into dangerous territory...One more misstep and you just may unleash a tidal wave of self-promotion and meaningless banter. In anticipation of that, I am going to go put on my boots and grab an umbrella. Save yourselves!!!
This thread is intended to make us aware of the talented players in the class of 2011, not to promote a certain travel team or organization. I have no problem with the posting of tournament scores or summer league games, but let’s leave all the self-promotion of teams and so called Elite Tournaments of the thread. JMO
See what you've done... Now it's too late.

The catcher, Kyle Kinyon, is a 2010 with a late 16 birthday. He was the starting varsity catcher as a sophomore for South Elgin HS.
Who is blathering about the best in state? You wanted names and you got some. I believe I saw a Top Tier Roster previously, so lets call them out to.
By the way, Cody Bobbit is the freshman who started varsity shortstop at Palatine, watch out for him to.

There is no better action than travel ball arguments. I feel left out. My kid is a junior now. I miss the old Seminole, Clubber, Longshot fights on the travel sites. This is not a travel site. The kids are freshman, but it is getting awfully close to the old tbs site stuff.
It sounds like the dads of the class of 2011 have the potential to be one of the best classes of dads this site has seen in some time.
Hey igball, I posted several names, but have seen no one else post any except tisting9and Hit 300, people just like to attack. You have no clue about any affiliation I have. What teams or players have you seen? Can someone else give a constructive answer? Stir the pot, stir the pot.
thanks for proving my point.
GO DOLPHINS!!
I think certain tournaments and travel teams should be talked about on this board. I think everyone would admit travel baseball is played at such a high level. The Crystal Lake Tigers are entered in the Seminoles 16u Slugfest Tournament thiis weekend and this team can be as good as any team out there. I will be mentioning the names of many kids from this team because they deserve to get some press.
The Crystal Lake Tigers play the Cincinnati Storm tomorrow morning in their first game of the Slugfest Tournament.
This is a very good thread that was started mentioning Top Freshman players and also reporting on a terrific high caliber tournament. That's what this thread is all about.

This is not the press, this is a discussion forum, and mentioning anyone here does not get them anything, especially noticed. If you'd like to bring someones name up, having a purpose for it is what makes it interesting and gives it value for discussion. Simply "using" this board to "get some press" for the kids, brings no value to anyone, not even those kids. JMHO
Naperville Renegades are loaded with talented freshman players. They won their first tournament Memorial Day weekend and finished 2nd last weekend, losing to Seminoles.
