I see Vandy, VT, Rice, and Stanford (probably some others I missed forgive me) as schools that I consider in the "super elite" status where their baseball programs and their academics are at the very highest levels. Kids that go there have to be very bright in the classroom AND on the baseball field, which makes them very special. Congrats on getting some interest from them.
kv5137,

We know just about every player on Vanderbilt's roster. The coach there is one of the best in all of baseball when it comes to judging talent.

The things that most every player has in common...

Outstanding talent, strong student, good character, good person.

Sonny Gray, as an example, is one of most special young people we have ever run across. He would be special with or without baseball.

I really can't add anything to what other posters had said. Quality school and staff.

Will Clinard did not sign. 12 drafted, 11 signed. Was curious what position your son plays? I would add that the coaches there are GREAT mentors for your son. Three or four years under their guidance is top notch before you even consider the baseball and school programs.
The staff is intense, hard-working, and as their recent run shows, top-notch. I love the fact that Tim Corbin picks up a fungo and hits in-and-out before a game and also coaches third instead of delegating those things to assistants. You don't see a lot of big-time head coaches do that. If a player is a good enough student to be recruited there, he should strongly consider it. It's a tremendous baseball program and university, with a gorgeous campus to boot.

No intent to leave the impression that son is a Vandy player.

No problem here, I was simply providing correct information on draft status. I know all the kids and coaches there since my son played there until he signed this year with MN. I already miss VU baseball, yet certainly glad that my son is moving on to the next level.
