Anyone see a problem?

Here’s where I’m gonna guess someone’s using some scoring app and just assuming the numbers are right without checking, coupled with having someone doing the stats that hasn’t got a clue about how to keep score. These are the 4 teams with them most SBs in 2012 in the MaxPreps database. Alabama/5A – 1 st got 278 / 288 in 559 PAs and scored 151 runs. It gave up 24 SBs in 23 games. California/VI – 2 nd was 278 / 296 in 1,333 PAs, scored 334 runs and gave up 3 SBs in 18 games. Texas/1A/2A - 3 rd...

Re: 5 New Showcases Scheduled for 2004!!

dkings ·
Our schedule was completed long before the Area Code tryout days were announced. Unfortunately our East Coast showcase fell on the exact day for the Area Code tryouts at the U of Virginia. Area Code is a great opportunity at no cost (except travel) that we do not want to conflict with. Many DK players were going to have to miss our Showcase on Sunday the 19th therefore we have pushed the first day of the East Coast Elite showcase back to Monday June 19th. This will enable all colleges the...

Diamond King Baseball's success and growth over the past 3 years has not been predicated upon treating people with a lack of respect. Not once in our 3 seasons (14 events, over 1000 satisfied student athletes) have we ever cancelled an event. One of last seasons event dates was "changed" in order to accomodate many of our players that were participating in an area code tryout that same weekend. All players were notified of this change months in advance. The start date was changed from a...

Yes Sir! Do you see any surprises on there? I was kind of surprised about Abreu, but he is just barely on there. It's still a heck of an accomplishment though. I believe Thomas may fall off of the .300 average list if he stays around much longer, kind of like Aaron and Mantle who were really part of that list most of their careers.

Re: Striding Out Vs. Picking it Up & setting it down

beemax ·
Abreu is definitely a surprise and I do agree that thomas may drop out of there if he keeps at it. I know this much though by looking at all of these hitters; they were/are all around GREAT hitters. There is nothing they cannot do with the bat. A little surprised A Rod isn't on here, as he has a .306 BA .389 OBP .578 SLG. He strikes out over a hundred times a year and has never walked over a hundred so I'm not sure if he will ever get to .400, but he still has an outside shot.

Re: Striding Out Vs. Picking it Up & setting it down

powertoallfields ·
Yeah, I would say A Rod's biggest problem is that he can pretty much hit any pitch out of the ball park. It's a good thing to be able to do, but it is a double edged sword too. It is a scary thing to tinker with on a hitter too. Sometimes if you get them to be a little more selective, they start being too selective and their other numbers start to fall.

That's great, sounds like an excellent athlete, I'd really like to see how he'd match up vs stepped up pitching. Changes the game, but can't take away from how he's performing. Pretty cool.. I've never seen a talented D3 game. The D3 Midwest in Wisconsin will be a must for me. Whats the avg pitching velo for these top teams? SP and then RP?

Matt Reiland posted: Stats - What about the Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) stat for pitchers, and Weighted On Base Percentage (wOBA) for hitters? Or, since you are interested in the "quality" of contact, maybe Batting Average for Balls in Play (BABIP) for both pitchers and hitters? A pitcher might pitch to a lot of contact, but a low BABIP would indicate that hitters are not squaring up well against him. Likewise, a hitter with a high BABIP is making quality contact. Good questions...

The question is how much from the initial offer of 6 million did Scott Boras come down? Most of the 1st round picks signed below their slot value, the Mets initial were willing to pay Rocker above said slot value because he was listed as a top 5 pick and he was technically a Covid Sophomore. But did he slip because other teams saw his velocity drop and Boras tried to put lipstick on the proverbial pig. Attached is the full draft with bonuses, slot value and differentials.
