My money is on the Tigers. They beat last year's Marshalls 5 straight times in the tournament finals. And the Mustang team playing in Gainsville is evidently their 2nd 15U team. Don't know about the Cats. but it should be real good baseball.

The Fort Worth Cats played well and took advantage of every opportunity that they were given and then created a few more just to make sure they got the win. Overall, at 4-0 they won the weekend. The Marshals played two good games and beat the Mustangs and the Tigers. The other two were ugly losses to the Cats. The Tigers seemed to be "coachless", who is the head coach for the U15 team? They did not look like every inning of every game mattered to them, in every other game I have watched them...

A couple of the Tigers were not there. The head coach of this team is Tommy Hernandez but he was in Houston this weekend with another of his teams. The NCTC/Gainesville tournament was not a true "play-off" style of tournament. It was just a "round robin" without any championship round. I do agree that Colton Cain will be missed by the 15U/2009 Tigers. He'd be missed by any team. He's just very, very good. However, there are a number of other good players on this team. MN-Mom if PG did not exist all of those players would still go on to play in college or be drfted no doubt about it.... they are just a bigger tournament than any other tourney those kids play in on any given summer or fall weekend... those teams that go there... Midland Redskins, Hou Heat, Mustangs, Tigers, DBAT, East Cobb, etc, etc they all have players being seen every weekend... at tourneys they host or play in ... just those tourney directors do not credit for those kids being drafted -...

Ok I have to reply to this one. One of the best summer teams I ever played against was the 91 Mustang team. About 12 players were D1 players and about 5 Pro Players and I think 2 Big Leaguers. In the 90’s Sam put Monster teams on the field every year. Now I must brag on one Team. 2001 DBAT Team. This was our 1st team. One Game away from Farmington. THANKS to ALL for the well wishes! Everyone on this website knows how much fun it is to win. The Mustangs are no different. This tournament as well as all the other tournaments and league games the Mustangs have played in are about TEAM. Coach C, He's doing great - thanks for asking. Having a really good summer. He and his Mustang teammates are in Mobile this week at a Premier tourney. I'm left to sit at work and wait for his post game calls to get all the updates. As you can imagine, it's killing me to miss these games but you've got work sometime, right? As you know, the really pressure filled tourney starts next week with the Connie Mack regional. Should be some great baseball. After that, it's just a few short weeks...

Mustang 44, You may not like "bring up" some of the scores last year of St. Rita's wins but those scores had nothing to do about to about the talent of your opponents and everything to do with the ego of the head coach. tychco#1 son's Mustang team played the East Cobb teams this past summer. VERY good teams and his team was fortunate to beat them. Perhaps they do not display the best sportsmanship at all times , but the teams are talented. Congrats to the Marshals, that is a quality tournament win.

Perfect Game has Sam's DBAT Mustang team ranked amongst the top in the nation. The old man always finds a way and with Cade and Shayne holding the umbrella to help with the shadiness look for them to do it again. Tommy's Tigers can always play but you never know what team will show up. Geer's team was salty last summer and I'd expect the same this year. Of coarse, I'm sure the boss man could of taken the better players to round out his roster. Stout may be a contender but he's been coaching...

Son has played Pony since he was 8 years old. My only gripe with it is with the stealing rules. I'm all for lead offs and steals but at the Mustang level (8-10) it is a little silly. Most pitchers have a hard enough time getting the ball over the plate. Figurin gout how to pitch from the stretch and holding runners is very hard. I found that about 80% of the time the kid on first base would run to second without a throw. Other than that I have been very happy with it. I'm sure others have...

Our local rules allow leadoffs and can only steal 2nd or 3rd on a passed ball during the regular season. We do not allow stealing home on a passed ball and require that the runner be "hit" home or in a continuous play from 1st or 2nd. All Stars they play with full stealing. I've played under both rule sets in regular season ball (full vs. limited stealing) and feel that the limited stealing is a very good way of doing it. The kids still learn to look for the passed ball and get good leads,...
