Young Sophomores play Lane Tech Sophomores for the CPS City Sophomore Championship.

Game is Saturday at Brooks. Game time is 1:00 pm.

Congratulations to Young Sophomore Coach Josh Locks (who is also an English teacher) for getting his team to the Championship Game one more time!

lane freshman beat whitney's freshman in a great game today @ horner park. they play again wednesday at horner. if lane freshman win they go to the championship game, if not its a coin flip.

2 borderless schools playing for the public league championship ... how long until someone brings up the Catholic league and recruiting and compares the 2 situations?

No clue which south side school Lane freshman will play. Probably will find out later this week.

Young gets 4-3 Win over Simeon at UIC Les Miller Field today. Young now advances to the CPS Championship Game which is to be played next week at US Cellular.

Joe Frahm was the Winning Pitcher for Young going 7 innings.

Young scored 4 Runs on 8 Hits and 2 Errors.

Troy White was 3 for 4 and Dai Bowden was 2 for 4. Jack Cinamon with a Double.

Simeon scored 3 Runs on 2 Hits and 2 Errors.

Young was undefeated in the conference and was the Top Seed, but was the Visiting Team for this semi-final game? Simeon was the home team for this semi-final game?????

Lakeview was leading 3-0 in the second inning.

Game time for Whitney Young versus Lakeview for the CPS Championship at US Cellular Field is 3:00 pm on Tuesday.

Lane Tech freshman beat Harlan for city championship @ Whitney Young's varsity field. The final was 3-2. Lane came back from a shaky 1st inning to play good baseball and hit when it mattered. Tim Feeley pitched a complete game and 11 strikeouts.

Good job Lane!

Whitney Young (29-4) won its second consecutive City of Chicago High School Championship today in a game played at U.S. Cellular Field.

Young scored 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 error and Lakeview scored 1 run on 6 hits. Joe Frahm was the winning pitcher. Troy White 3 for 4 with a Triple and a Double. The runs were scored by Jack Cinoman and Valmer Jordan. There was a good turnout of fans from both schools. This is a great experience for players of both teams to be playing on a MLB field. Last year Young played Lane at Wrigley Field to win its first city baseball championship.

Congratulations to Coach Cassidy, the players and coaching staff.......Let's go for 3!

Hey Mom, Is that the same Lakeview team that was beaten 10-0 in 5 innings by Crystal Lake Central last week?

For Lakeview, Dion Geiger pitched through 5 innings and Uli Ortiz finished the game.

COHO why such harsh talk. RRF8 asked a simple question. We are all trying to keep things in perspective. Lakeview did play in a regional semi final last week and lost 10-0 to Crystal Lake Central who has an overall record of 16-14. These ae just facts not opinion.

Troy White is an excellent all around player with outstanding defensive fielding skills and hits for power. He is a very good clutch hitter and is one of the best in the Class of 2008 Players in the state.

CPS put the spotlight on its student athletes on Thursday June 5, 2008 with an awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on Wacker for all of its City and State Championship teams. Awards and certificates were presented to all of the athletes.

Young was represented as the two time (2007 and 2008) CPS City Baseball Champions.

Hats off on a job well done.
