SEASON STATS

Brother Rice edges out Notre Dame 3-2

Nick Pieruccini notched his 1st home-run of the season to lead off the 2nd inning, and give Notre Dame (7-8) a 1-0 lead.

The Dons used 6 different pitchers to hold the BR offense in check, but a 2-out, 2-run home run by Wendall Ferguson in the 4th proved to be the difference in this non-conference matchup.

Matt Walsh, Kevin Stahmer, Kennan Connelly, and Ryan Czachor all recorded scoreless innnings in their first respective innings on the mound this season. As a staff the ND pitchers allowed only 5 hits, 1 walk, and hit 2 batters.

Notre Dame made a valiant comeback attempt in the 7th when Robbie Getty led off with a walk, and Bobby Regal followed with a single. Both runners advanced on a double-steal putting the tying run a second base. After a sacrifice fly by Matt Walsh, the Dons effort was halted when the Brother Rice pitcher struck out the last two hitters of the game.
Bolingbrook 7

Oswego East 6

Jake Kolakowski had a great pitching effort going 7 innings leaving the game tied 3-3. The Raiders had a little defensive let down in the ninth inning and were losing 6-3. The Raiders got two walks in the ninth and my son came up and tied the game with a 3 run homerun. The Raiders got the win on a failed squeeze play. Oswego East's 3rd baseman dropped the ball and the runner scored on the error.

Prospect 7 (5-10)
Rolling Meadows 0 (11-5)
Jack Landwehr (Il State), throws a 5 hitter striking out 10 against a good hitting Rolling Meadows team. Landwehr has allowed only 1 earned run in 38 innings. That is his 21 first win as a pitcher for prospect which is a new school record.

10 inning game with an unusual twist. Apparently Jarrod Juskiewicz hit a 3 run homer in the 6th but the second runer to cross did not touch the plate as caught by HE coach, the unpp then called him out and Jarrod was sent back to second. Since that was the third out only 1 run scored and hitter gets credit for double.
Jake Walker threw 6 shutout innings in releif for PHS. 3 hits each for Palatines Dan Riddle, Kurt Becker and Czarnik. Eric Scheuermann homered for Hoffman. Seems like we used to teach the fielders to watch guys to touch the base.

Fremd 4 (10-7)
Barrington 3 (12-5)
2 runs in the 7th for Fremd as Keith Giagnorio hits a 2 run single. Double for BHS Coco.

Buffalo Grove 3 (8-11)
Hersey 0 (12-3)
Buffalo Grove has 1 hit but but makes the most of Hersey mistakes, errors and a balk to win the game as Eric Froemming hits a 2 run triple after the mistakes.
Hersey sebior pitcher threw the 1 hitter with 12 k's.
Buffalo Grove pitcher Jeremy Berger who threw 3 scoreless innings the night before and apparently a 6 inning shutout against EG the week before went the distance. I won't go into the whole throw and then throw again during what should be your rest period debate, but I hope he stays healthy.

ElK Grove 10 (12-5)
Wheeling 0 (1-17)

Perfect game for 3 pitchers fro EG. Jack Czesznewski, Jake Andrews and Mike Woods were the pitchers. 2 doubles for Mike Anciulis and 6 rbi.

Weather shortened game. Jack Holden with a homer and Colin Bethran goes 3-3.

BEST SAVE OF THE WEEK IN THE MSL!!!!!

Monday night at the Schaumburg freshman softball game one of the coaches has a heart attack on the field. A parent, Joe Boshold and the athletic trainer Kandy Keller went to work and there combination of cpr and an automatic external defibrillator saved the coaches life. Wow nice save!

NIles West and Maine South certainly do not play similar schedules!!!!!

With the exception of conference games which are mandatory games.

The Wolves have a good record, sure, but it is not anywhere near MS or anyone else's of note in the CSL (GBS, NT). They are notorious for early season victories, attaining a great seed in the sectional, but only winning a regional once in the last 2 decades.

This is their prerogative, and they may select this schedule. The only issue that I take is when anyone tries to equate the two schedules.
