Most memorable high school moment: As a high school sophomore, pitched deciding game 3 for #1 in State-Canyon Randall Raiders vs #2 Southlake Carroll Dragons to determine a trip to the Class 4A Texas State Tournament. Son pitched 3 shut-out innings before being lifted in the 5th for now Houston Astro minor-leaguer (Round Rock Express)RHPer, tied 1-1, but runners on. SLC went on to win game 3 & win state, then moved up to Class 5A within 3 months. Go figure? ? ?

High school baseball seems so long ago!

I'm Doubledad, a father of what was two highschool ball players. I've been on and off this site for many years, but havent posted much over the yers. This site was the sole provider of valid information for me as my older son wen through HS ball, college ball, summer league ball, and to the pro draft... Just a special thianks to HHBBW and Bob and all the old timers.

Anyway, my baseball playing son is:

Bobby Parnell, RHP.

Presently with the Mets organization, played for the Brooklyn Cyclones in 05, Drafted 9th round in June 05, played 3 years at Charleston Southern University in SC, one season for the Chatham A's in the Cape Code League, partial summer season for the High Point HiToms of the Coastal Plains League, East Rowan (NC) High School, Rowan County (NC) American Legion for 4 years, and Summer Ball for the Carolina Sox of Charlotte, NC for Bill Capps.

My younger son, Adam, is graduating HS this year ('06), but is not pursuing baseball. He's interested in other aspects of life.

We are proud of both of them. Thanks

Letter to my son:

High School is over, where has the time gone
Mom and I cannot believe you will be moving on.

It seems like only yesterday, that you were born
Now you are off to college you’re mother and I will mourn.

The joy you have given us with everything that you’ve done
Has given our life such meaning – we thank you for the fun.

When you take your spot on the mound
we are sure you found your niche
We feel like we are with you, throwing every pitch
Our hearts start to beat fast when you release the ball
Hoping the umpire makes the right call.

So it’s off to college where it will be all up to you
But you should always remember how much we all love you!

Some people said you couldn’t do it,
But you did it on your own
Now have a lot of fun at college
Just don’t call us for a loan.

Jerry,

What a great idea and nice opportunity for all of the proud parents in the baseball family.

My son Robert Strecker, was at Jupiter, velo was down from an awesome showing at Blue Grey at the end of October where he threw in the 91-92 range and won the championship for the team I was coaching, Team Gainesville (7-0). Kirk Gardner of your staff called me and it was a great opportunity for Robert and my wife and I enjoyed the experience. Please thank Kirk for me, a true professional!

Rob will be signing with Hillsborough CC in Tampa on January 21, 06 after some nice offers.

The players in my HS program have really enjoyed the opportunities at PG!

Thanks again for the wonderful idea and may you and your family have a Merry Christams and a Happy New Year!
