is the newest recruit to verbal to the University of Oregon. Our thanks to Coach Horton, Wasikowski and Uhlman for their time and patience during this important decision making process.
I can't begin to fully express our appreciation for HSBBweb. Such a resource is truely a blessing. To listen and learn from such a wealth of knowlege assembled here gave us a sense of control and peace that we were making the right decision.
I look forward to updating everyone as the journey continues and promoting HSBBweb wherever I go. There is no substitute for hard work and good coaching to become an elite level athlete. Yes, if you are good they will find you, but being prepared and accessable are also key to getting where you want to go.
I have go to get used to saying this next line.
Go Ducks!
That is awesome, except for the rain!
congrats to Patriot Jr
Eugene is a great town.Ducks have great community support.Campus is awesome.Stadium is top notch. And one of the best coaches ever. You hit the jack pot.Congrats.We travel to Eugene for second time this next season.Had an awesome time two years ago, excpet for Sunday when My son sustained a concussion.

This site has been our road map to everything baseball for a number of years. Thank you to all of those that put in so much time and effort to keep this site as the beacon of high school (and further) baseball. I'm not sure where we'd be without it.

I found this site a while back and have just started to understand what a gold mine it is. I have already learned so much. I will admit some of it is a bit scary as we are in the beginning stages with a 2015 Son.
Colson Kirchner

Attending Middletown High 2015
He just started with the Canes showcase team this last fall, now known as the Evoshield Canes. We finished last season with the Maryland Baseball Academy which closed last August. Before that we were with the Frederick Hustlers who went 30-0 in the Baltimore Metro Baseball league.
All that to say, we are heavily invested in baseball futures and are students here to make the best of that investment.
Thank you all for your wisdom and willingness to share!

I have really enjoyed the passion and information available at this site. Baseball is such a great game. One of my favorite sayings for young baseball players is :

I hope after reading this, you will all find the humor in the fact a 12yr old has alot of maturing to do both on and off the field.
After reading "rocketdad10"'s posts, it took me about 30min. to connect the dots. Rocket, was my 12 yr. old son on a fishing expedition. Little did he realize the fish he would catch would be a shark "Dad" and would bite back.
I have been coming to this website for about 3yrs. and always respect if not enjoy the insight, experiences and debates on this forum. My wife has also been introduced to the site by me so she to could appreciate the journey that lies ahead, if we are that fortunate. Two nights ago, I made my son sit and read the "Pro vs College" thread to show him there is no gurantees and the road is long and hard. We try to instill in our son that he has only taken a few steps in a marathon. That's when, unknown to us, he decided to create an account. 12 year old!
I have been and will always be reluctant to come on here and post my son's baseball abilities or accomplishments because at this point it means little. He just needs to enjoy the game and learn to respect it. Again, it's 12u ball.
Although what he said about his ability is factual, it did not paint "Dad", or for that matter, both parents in a good light. He will pay those consequences. He has had a very strong arm from an early age. For that reason, we have always sought advice to establish the best mechanics we could. He still has alot of room to grow both physically and mentally. We, as parents, feel it is our responsabilty to put a protective system in place to make sure he has the opportunity, God willing, to see his dreams. I must give him credit, he works very hard on these things.
The knowledge we have and will receive from this site has been invaluable! I respect and admire those who have made this journey before us or will make with us. For that, I thank you all.
If this has offended anyone, I apologize.
"go hard-throw hard" I had to laugh.
Thank you,
This is a post I wrote 2 years ago when I caught my then 12 yr. old fishing for compliments.
Fast forward to today..
14 yr. old Fr. Class '15 made Varsity. Only second Freshman in coaches 16 years at his school
We are very proud but know he still has a long journey ahead.
Still appreciate all the wisdom on this board.
Thank you!

Ken I have just about finished "Going with the Pitch". What a great read. I could hardly put it down. My son is 15 and it will be required reading this summer. Very interesting insider look at college athletics
I am really glad to hear it younggun. I would certainly appreciate you spreading the word.
Please also look out for a 2nd edition to be coming out sometime in the spring!!!

Do you recognize this young man?
Why yes I do Jerry! That looks like my 2013 in Ft Myers. I can see that clearly from my lovely deployed spot in the middle east. Thanks for taking the time to post this, every little thing means a lot when seperated from the family for 6 months. I'll be back in time(June) to hit the sumeer PG tourney trail.

HunterMac,
Thank you very much for serving our country, your sacrifices are much appreciated. My brother in-law served 20 plus years in the Marines. He was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries during that time period and I know it was difficult to be away from his family...so again, Thanks!
As for the picture of your son, pretty cool that Jerry dug that up and posted it. PGStaff is a good guy!

Hunter, Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you are making for our country. Best of luck to your son and his Baseball season.
What a great website. Too many kids to follow. I Wish we could narrow it down to state or region. Fun stuff!

My son is Alex Livengood, 3B/C/RHP/Util, Ballard High School (Seattle, WA) Class of 2015. He plays 16U select ball for Coaches Dominic Woody and Pete Orgill on the Northwest Islanders of the Seattle Elite League 16U, and has previously played with Stod's Bandits, O'Brien Baseball Club, and the Seattle Stars at earlier age groups.
I recently learned that Alex will be playing for Coach Mike Brooks' Team Northwest at the Junior Olympics (now called something else, I think) as well as at one or two Perfect Game events later this season, so I look forward to getting a chance to meet Jerry, and get those good ol' PG eyes on him!

Sorry ken that I haven't responded. We live in southwest Georgia. Son is a freshman LHP / CF that is a switch hitter. We are just beginning our journey and this website is invaluable. HS tryouts start Monday. Can't wait.
OK, I can't think of a better thread to write my 500th post.
First, a huge thank you to the entire HSBBW community. You have made this Dad's trek with his son all the more rewarding. I've made some new friends in person that I never would have met, and I've found an honest and open web community where I doubted one (web community) could exist before this.
I've enjoyed the wisdom of many as well as the 'orneriness' of a select few!
My son isn't going D1, or even D2 (though he did have interest from some great NE-10 coaches).
He is not ranked highly by PG (7.5)
He is not on any Top Prospects lists that I am aware of.
And I apologize to those who are in much more lofty categories for perhaps wasting your time with my pride in him.
He is going D3, smitten by Boston, and intends to show them that he deserves a spot in the starting lineup at some point in the next few years. We are both very impressed with the school and the coaching staff, not to mention the city of Boston (again).
He captained both his basketball and baseball teams well into the playoffs and from among 175 male athletes at his school was named for Outstanding Committment to Athletics.
He has also been named First Team All Division by the RI Interscholastic League and has been complimented by his coach as being one of the best leaders to come through the program over the past ten years.
He will be completely embarrassed by this posting.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Congratulations! Best of luck to him at the next level and hope you get a chance to see him play many many more games!
Congrats Redsoxfan21 and Redsoxfan21 son! As one journey ends another begins. Best of luck to your son, and be very, very thankful that you'll be somewhat close by to see his games.

Thanks. And that truly is the icing on the cake, their home games are played 20 minutes away from where I work and the conference has another team that plays 30 minutes from here, and another in my home town, 10 mins from where I live. Poor kid! Will never fully escape, lol.
.
Congrats to Jon and your entire family. So wonderful that you will be able see so many of his games.
Please keep posting!
Awesome News! Enjoy the next few years!
Soak it all in Dad. You have every reason to be proud. I could just see that smile as you wrote that post above! Awesome stuff.
Good luck to your son over the next 4yrs.

I never put Stevie "Dough"'s name in here for a variety of reasons, I even filled out a reply a couple of times over the years. In the meantime, I ran across this video and thought it was kind of funny to see where it started and this seemed like this was a good thread as any to post it in. http://www.youtube.com/embed/BsQCv86QnGo

Better late then never! I feel like I've made progress by at least posting his first name 8 years after 1st seeing the thread.
btw I thought about putting it into the hitting forum to ask if there was any hope for the swing but figured some people might get upset when they figred out two pages later that it wasn't a serious reqeust based upon my screen name.
