nick kurash and dom tardy battled hard for five innings.
Hinsdale verse Hinsdale South was 8-4 in eight innings, one of the greatest high school games i've ever seen. south got up 2-0 in the fifth after carl fiebig hit a solo shot. then in the bottom half central fought back with 2 runs with key hits by nicholas and noth. in the top of the seventh souths starting pitchres dom tarde jacked the first pitch of the inning over the center field fence. in the bottom half, mark noth reached with walk and was forced out breaking up a double play on a morse fielders choice. morse advanced to second on a passed ball then colin cimala hit a blooping single to score morse with two outs. south came back in the top of the eight. charlie thomas came in relief for hinsdale central. ryan hopp reached second on an error. the joey buanovalanto tripled hit a triple but was held at third by thomas to keep it 4-3. in the bottom half of the eight with one out, drew bailey drew a walk. and rew nichloas then flew out. with two outs tobi adeyemi ripped a bullet off new south pitcher jerome thomas' leg for an infield hit. three hitter and junior brett suchy then hit a bullet doulbe scoring one. south then intentionally walked mark noth, to set up Brett Morse' 400+ foot walk off grand slam.
West Chicago 1, Benet 0 -- 10 innings.

Amazing pitchers duel between WC's Dan Francik and Benet's Chris Pack (who was awesome in 9 2/3 innings). Francik allowed 5 hits, struck out 9 and walked 1 in a complete game.

Benet probably had the better of the scoring chances, but the big guns in the lineup were held in check. The lone run scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the 10th. Francik retired the last eight batters.

Absolutely amazing, amazing game.
Colin did throw 8 innings on Saturday as well as today. I'm not sure about Saturday's pitch count. But I think he was at about 85 today. I know he had a 4 pitch inning. He does have a lot riding on that wing, but he is a competitor and is also a very smart young man. I don't think he or his coach would let him get into a position where he might get injured.
West Chicago's riding two tough pitchers. Dan Francik and junior Eric Wyman (a lefty). Wyman no-hit Wheaton Academy in the play-in game and then pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief to beat Downers North. The two haven't allowed a run in four playoff wins including victories over Glenbard West, Downers North and Benet. Their lineup isn't awesome, but they're timely.

A very scary team for anyone right now. Their confidence must be through the roof.
Whaley guy......

Don't make a generalized statement saying that every other team is waiting to take a walk with two strikes. If your hitter is sitting on two strikes, he'd better not be waiting for a walk!!!

By the way, don't you 'Whaley guys' use that uppercut swing, trying to hit homeruns all the time? Kind of selfish don't you think!!!! Does Whaley really teach that?????
I'd tap that.....

You don't teach quickness. You either have it or you don't. You can develop your skills to become quicker. Besides, how do you measure quickness anyway? Is bat speed a visual observation and how the ball jumps-off the bat? You don't have to be big to have a "quick" swing, just have the knowledge of proper hitting technique.
