Naperville Central 2
Plainfield South 1

Kyle Kaminska goes the distance in allowing 1 run on 1 hit. The run was a mix of walks and an error. He was sharper than he has been all year and was hard to hit today. Mike Odenthal hit a 3rd inning 2 run homer for what ended up to be the winning runs. We will now play Hinsdale Central in what should be a great game at North Central College monday at 4:30.

Go Redhawks.
NT 3 GBS 2-GBS had plenty of opportunities but couldn't produce. NT capitalized on an error in the 5th and eventually got 2 runs off of it, which caused the 3-2 final.

And someone will have to tell why a cold pinch runner is stealing 2nd in the top of the 7th with your clean-up batter up. (Yes, he got thrown out to end the game) Good coaching Lindley.
I wasnt at the NT GBS game, but I can tell you that there is nothing wrong with that strategy. You want to get the runner in scoring position with a good hitter at the plate. And there is no such thing as a cold pinch runner on a 75 degree day. Pinch runners are always supposed to stay loose for their opportunities. Poor excuse.
Yeah, LT had the lead the entire way; it started with a 3-0 first lead after two big home runs from McMurray and Birks. Game kept going that way until it was 9-1 in the 4th. Eventually Rita started getting the bat on the ball and after trading runs and alot of hitting opportunities for both sides it was 11-6 going into the bottom of the 7th. The LT pitcher went 1-2-3 with 2 K's. Weak last stand I'd have to say for Rita.
I was at the Ignatius/Mount Carmel Sectional played at Mount Carmel. The game went into extra ininngs with the score tied at 4 runs apiece. In the top of the 9th Inning, Ignatius scored the go ahead run on a error by the left fielder. Earlier in the inning a series of infield errors contributed to Iggy having a runner in scoring position.

With two outs in the bottom of the 10th it looked like it was going to be a victory for Iggy and they could taste how sweet the victory was going to be. However, with Mark Evans of Carmel at bat and a runner on second, 2 outs and 1 strike on the batter, Evans pounds one over the right field fence (325 feet) and it was walk off homerun and game over. Carmel wins 6-4.

A very good game to watch and could have gone either way. I am sure the Carmel left fielder felt relieved for his team to get the win.

One quick thing about running at the end of the game. Last year I saw a team in the sectional double steal with two outs to put the winning runs in scoring postion. It worked and everyone thought the coach was great, if it fails it looks bad. The fact is you got to get the runner into scoring postion if you can. Its even more true if your hitters haven't been hitting well or getting many extra base hits and GBS had not yesterday or today.
siko.....like i said before, I LOVE UMPIRES. you would think that guy was making 150g's a yr as a mlb ump for gosh sakes......both sides got wrecked in that game...poor konrath couldn't do anything but pour it over the middle and then we had to hit it. it was a joke a travisty...there are some bitter men who work behind the proverbial dish.....i can't tell you guys all how proud i was of him to stay composed pitch after pitch...i could see it in his face when he would put the curve over perfectly and ..nothing...same way for Rita pitcher too...it was brutal...and i know 2 of 3 of those members of the butchers union will be either at our next game or down state.... here i go again getting myself in trouble...well at least i picked on a new group...i love the OPENNESS of this website, where people can just be people...duece,itsrosy, nice to see you out there and good luck in the summer to you guys. strikes had some hitters out there today....might be picking up some new clients after that game steve...great shirts too.....lotta luck and lotta love out to you brother. everyone have a wonderful night , i think i might sleep well tonight afterall i put in 5-6 miles today...i know i know i could use it..

Congrats to LT, I was at the game as well and was very surprised that Chojnowski was not held back for this start. LT is my pick to win it all at this stage.

CoachB,

Just how good is this club from O'Fallon? They put a real whipping on perennial power Edwardsville, as you pointed out, and I have seen Sacred Heart Griffin this spring. If you were a betting man, who would be your horse in the next race (supersectional)?

itsrosy, we weren't half bad this year at 24-12. Three of those losses were to O'Fallon. They thumped us two of those three. I haven't seen Sacred Heart. I do know that both teams had to deal with the weather and might be forced to throw #3s today in the Super Sectional. Of course, O'Fallon was able to get their #1 out of the game early the other day and so...

Side Note - Coach Portz (O'Fallon) was one of my colleagues when I was an assistant to Coach Pile at Edwardsville. He coached the Freshman team there and did make the trips to state. Also on their coaching staff is Nick Seibert. He is brother to Shaun Seibert who is doing well at Arkansas and was also a pitcher on the 1998 team that went undefeated. Nick was one of our top pitchers that year and hit cleanup.
CoachB,

O'Fallon just validated their victories over your team by defeating Sacred Heart Griffin in the Supersectional 6-4.

Minooka 8
Marist 5

Rockford Boylan 2
Cary Grove 1

Naperville Central 7
Hinsdale Central 2
Too much Colin Bates today. Did it on the mound and added a 2 run shot in a 4 run 5th to put the game away.

Elk Grove 6
Grayslake 2

Bartonville (Limestone) 5
Bradley (Bourbonnais) 4 -9 innings

LT 12
Mt. Carmel 2

itsrosy, they have hitting throughout their lineup and have 3 kids that get the job done on the mound. If you will remember, when everyone early in the season was picking teams to make it to state, I picked O'Fallon. That is how much respect I have for that team. I hope you get to see Brain Gass pitch. He is a very talented young man. It seems our plight every year that I've been at Triad is to lose to the team that makes it to state. Go all the way back to Belleville East's last trip to state. Who did they knock off to get there? Triad. Someday, we will get over that hump and make it there!

Good Luck to Coach Portz and the O'Fallon Panthers.
Congrats to a classy team, Elk Grove.

Elk Grove vs. Naperville Central.....a nice matchup between 2 excellent teams. We played both and they were tough. Central scored more runs off us, but we pitched our # 6 or 7 against them so it's hard to tell.

Another thing about the posters on this site from both of those schools....all good...nothing but positive.

I was at the LT, St. Rita game this past Saturday. I couldn't help but notice all of the players on LT that played for Sam Sorce and Prairie Gravel. Kyle Corcoran, Casey McMurray, Grant Filipitch, Luke Gracek, Mark Hochberg, Jack Easley, Alex Georges, and maybe more. And then Sam walked into the park with his sons Dan and Mike. Sam has lost about 40 lbs, shaved a little and looks 10 years younger. The first thing he says to me is, how's Jordan's arm? Our only regret is that my son only got to play for and learn from Sam Sorce one season, but it is an experience my son won't forget. LT, keep on rolling and win it all!
