You are right that kid Dunne made a spectacular catch to save those runs --- the game may (probably) have been much different had that ball fallen --- for the situation --- BEST catch all season!!! Momentum changing play!!

Not rooting for anyone .... but LT and Minooka have those intangibles to make it all the way. Elk Grove looks like they are on a mission. The best thing is we will find out by Saturday night!! Good Luck to all of the Elite Eight teams.

Gravel was quite a program, wasn't it? There are ex-Gravel players all over the suburbs... . I can only imagine that those players (not playing for LT) who were touched by Sam are spreading the good things that he taught to their current teams. I also imagine that their teammates, perhaps without knowing anything about Prairie Gravel, somehow recognize that the Gravel players have a special quality about them...

LT is made up of 7 of the 9 starters are Gravel with many more on the bench itching to get there chance. He has meant alot to our community in particular. Coaches at LT were blessed with kids who had great fundamentals coming in, from pick off plays to hitting the right cut off man in the right situation. And always ready to hit as evidenced by the last few weeks in particular....and they play the game right....they know when to hold and when to go...now it's all go baby...just hit and go all day....good luck to all 8 teams at KC Cougar field this weekend....and by all means seniors enjoy this last weekend of high school ball and remember how much fun it was to be there.....see ya all there....the sweatmeister
sweaty that pretty much sums it up about high school baseball....Elk Grove had a good travel team also and there were a lot of kids from Mt. Prospect Mavericks on Elk Grove and the Northwest Travelers...it's nice to see all that hard work and learning the game since we were young has paid off now and we are now going to state which has been one of our main goals of the season
Coachb, how bout a little insight to this O'fallon team? lineup...can they hit up and down?....can they pitch?....can they pick up the ball? thanks...for the scouting report as we (lt) play them on friday and don't know a thing about them other than they are on a roll ... obviously, as is everybody else who is left...thanks, sweaty

How many, of the 8 teams, have you actually seen play?

How many of the 8 teams have ROLLED through 3 top Catholic League teams in the playoffs scoring more than 10 runs against each? I think that alone justifies my saying that they are clearly the best hitting team.
Thriller100....

You have to understand that BeenthereIL is an old St.Rita guy.

He needs to watch this TEAM play. They are relentless, top to bottom in the order, defense makes few mistakes, and the pitching is solid as was seen Monday night. LT played some tough teams and took nothing for granted, rankings or not. They respect every team they play and know that too many mistakes, and lack of hitting, can cost them.

This group of kids is great to watch, on and off the field. They have bonded so well that egos don't exist as some would think, and they are deep in all positions.

I wish our guys continued success going into Fridays game at Kane County.

I'm starting to worry here....everyone is being nice...isn't there anyone left to pick on? oopppssss there I go again...I mean Boomer is making nice and LT dad is making nice and Duece totally understands...."no sleep mode"...you deal with that every weekend in the summer trying to figure out a lineup.... I am so proud of the way the MEN from LT have been playing together, I really don't care how they go, they have grown so much this season and it looks like they will have a great team next year to with some of these juniors leading them....GOOD LUCK and lots of love to all the teams this weekend and play hard and for gosh sakes HAVE FUN
Sweaty, I can't give you a preview of O'Fallon since I'm still trying to recover from the 3 beatings they gave us this year. LOL! Honestly, they are a Team. A bunch of hard working, well coached kids that come to play. How do they rank with teams in your area? I don't know. I'd say that they are on par with Oak Forest's squad from this year. BTW, I was honored today having been asked by Coach Portz to speak to the O'Fallon team this morning before their practice about what it is like to go to state. It was a very humbling experience being asked by another coach to speak to their team before they prepared for the most important games of their careers. Again, what a great group of kids. Not one kid failed to come up to me and thank me for the speech. Coach Portz and his staff are doing great things over there.
CoachB,

What a great honor given you by an opposing coach. I can only imagine the impact you must have made upon him and his team in the games you played against them this and other seasons.

Boy, are your players fortunate to have you as their coach, mentor and father figure. Every kid should be so lucky.
"James Murrey has been pitching very well lately and I labored Saturday night and didn't sleep very well (mulling the decision)," LT coach George Ushela said. "(Kyle) Corcoran has been 15-or-16-and-1 over two years and has been pitching well, but Murrey has been pitching better.

Did I read this correctly, LT skipped one of it's two aces for the supersectional? I bet that upset some people.

Sweaty, Boomer, Itsrosy, lets hope that all of these young men have the time of their lives while also remaining safe from harm. Wow, what memories I have from my trips to state. Extreme highs and one very low low. The atmosphere alone will be something that these kids remember all of their lives and then the games themselves. I've often told people that it is somewhat like a drug. Once you've experienced it, you want it more. My trick now is to pull that off for my kids here. Everyone have a great time. My daughter is playing in a tournament and so, I can't make it there.
Coach, I feel the same way...when our team won it in ,03 my son was a frosh and we were in cicny for a travel tourney and all he could think about was , getting us one of those...now is his chance. And to think I will be there to watch..I'm so excited to be there. I want him to just enjoy his last days as a high school baseball player and relax on the mound...What ever is meant to happen for these last 8 teams will happen...and there is nothing any parent can do about it except support the team and enjoy it with them. Our pitching rotation is in fine order and should have all arms ready to go...just hope the bats don't cool off.
