Final !
LT 1
O'Fallon 2

These games are being broadcast on the radio. Just go to IHSA.org and click on live broadcasts. The announcers said that this game was probably the cleanest, best played game they saw all season. I think the game took about 1 1/2 hours to play. No errors by either team, and 2 great pitching performances by Weston, and Gass for O'Fallon.

CoachB, I don't know how deep O'Fallon's pitching is, but IMO they beat a terrific LT team today.

Excellent game at Elfstrom, to say the least. Both pitchers did a great job of keeping the opposition off-balance.

Weston had 8k's, Gass had 5k's. LT had 5 hits, O'Fallon had 5 hits. Both teams had 'no errors' according to the official scorer. LT had 5 groundouts and 13 fly/pop outs. O'Fallon had 8 groundouts, 11 fly/pop out, 1 hbp, 1bb.

Deciding factor was two key hits in-a-row for O'Fallon (2b and 1b down the right field line) in the third inning that gave them the win. A really good baseball game played, and to watch.

Since I'm from the 'old school', the team that beat us, I hope goes on to win State!!!!

Best of luck to all of our Lyons Township players in their collegiate careers, and beyond, and also to all of the players in the Illinois senior graduating class of 2006!!!!!!

See you down-the-road!

I agree with Boomer on this one...it was an excellent game.

I offer much respect to the Lyons Township team and congratulations to O'Fallon's team on a very hard fought win against a formidable foe.

The best of Illinois high school baseball was on display today at Elfstrom Stadium...and continues this afternoon and tonight.

Thank you players and coaches for giving all of us fans a great season of baseball.

May the best team prevail!

I know the boys are at school sitting in the locker room and saying, I can't believe it's over. The reality is , LT lost and O'fallon won. It was a great game and a great pitchers duel. Of course I wish the outcome was flip flopped and we were moving on but, again O'fallon won a great game. I was especially proud the way the LT boys handled the loss. They got right in line and shook hands and said congrats and go win this thing. And that is a reflection on this program and how good they have been for years and will be for many more. At least to the year 2017 when I'll be back at it with my little man Jack. I too want to wish all the seniors 2006 the best of luck in whatever it is you move onto. It was a great season of HS Baseball. Thank You to my man at PBR,Sun times and Tribune newspapers for all the pub on HS ball and to the man at Il HS baseball report for all the hard work and dedication. W/O all of you who would have known? And to the IHSA coaches, I thank all of you. It has been a great 4 yrs in HS sports for me and my family. Good Luck to all whom remain. Peace....sweaty....I'm moving on to the illinois college baseball website...ha..wouldn't you all be happy!!!!
I am listening to this Elk Grove Nper Cent game on the internet...this is the fastst game ive ever heard...bates has like 55 or less pitches and Copeland has like 52 or less in 7 innings...uh oh here comes these naper in the bottom of the 7th ....AGAIN...unreal....great game..im torn..college with copeland and travel with bates...coin toss
Sweaty, Boomer, Congratulations on a great year. You both must be very proud of what has been achieved. I knew that this game was going to be a classic and referred to it on another thread mentioning that when "Programs" play each other, the quality of ball is outstanding. Good Luck to you and yours on future endeavors!
You gotta love the pitching in these games. O'Fallon, LT, Naperville Central, EG and it looks like Minooka had a wellpitched game.

As usual, pitching made a huge difference, even in earlier rounds. It was as though you needed to throw a shutout or give up maybe 1 run to win several of these big games. You also have to credit the defense on these teams as well, it's hard to hold a team to these run totals if you can't play "D"

Just execute, baby.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Elk Grove program. They were the best team we've played all year and it was an amazing game. I have all the respect in the world for Ryan Copeland. He is a true competitor and I know he will be successful in the future with the attitude he has. Great baseball game all around. I wish the best of luck to you Cope at ISU keep up everything you've got going.
I have to agree with you sweaty, again our boys handled themselves with dignity and respect. They are a great group of young men that I will miss watching because they were truely amazing at what they do .I also will miss all the parents,we had such a nice group. No big egos, concern and support for everyones kids a REAL TEAM on and off the field.I wish each and every player the best of luck and success throughout their college years ,and we have to have some kind of get together every summer they come back home from school. Thanks to all who encouraged us and supported Justin, with all he had to overcome ,you know who you are. This truely has been the best time of his life.Take care and be blessed.Sincerely,Jeanette Birks
O.K.

Since my son will be playing at the University of Rochester in New York next year, that doesn't mean I will not be watching Lyons Township baseball!!!!! I will attend the conference games, and keep "the book"!!!!

More importantly, I will be closely watching crazy the coaching staff in particular!

Also, 'ballfan, soxnole, Smokey', the thorn-in-your-side is coming. Be ready!! LOL Big Grin
