Prime heads back to school tomorrow. First practice is scheduled for Saturday as Classes begin Monday.
He hit a number of times in our Backyard Cage while here. He alternated rather freely between his Wood and Omaha (BBCOR) bats during our sessions. I've chimed in previously about his Fall experiences with the BBCOR's so I will try not to repeat myself.
When he would switch from Wood and hit that very first ball with the BBCOR the sound was like that of "glass breaking." Suffice to say, coming from a baseball bat it was an awful, unnerving sound!
Can't say that I could discern any difference in exit speeds but we weren't measuring and were in the cage. None the less, it's his belief, to date, that he gets less pop and carry from the BBCOR than wood.
He has said that the Easton bats, that they just recently tried, were much livelier than all the others.
I'm driving down to watch the first practice Saturday (supposed to be mid-50's) and am eagerly anticipating the first game; February 4th!
Prime9,
So is that going to be a captains practice this Saturday? Surely it can't be a coaches practice, per the NCAA DII rules:
17.2.2 First Date of Practice—Championship Segment. A member institution shall not commence practice sessions in baseball in the championship segment before January 10 or the first day of classes, whichever is earlier.

10-4 backstop17; informal. Normal stuff would begin Monday with classes.
Who does your son's season open against, Prime9? My son's DII team comes to Texas and opens against a tough Abilene Christian.
Three Bagger; West Alabama then to Florida and St. Leo.
Good luck to all in the coming Season and be sure to post about trials and tribulations throughout the year.

Hey Prime - what date will you be at St. Leo? Thats not too far down the road for me...if my guy is not playing maybe I can stop by to meet you.

That sounds great. I will let you know for sure but would probably be for the Saturday DH on Feb 12th. Is yours at Tampa?
Yes he is! And loving it! But we will be in Greenwood SC for a tournament at Lander that weekend. You are coming into the warmth, and we are going to the chilly North ( ) .
Ok, Ok, South Carolina is not the "North"!
