ctandc,

And your son's fielding percentage is?

Sounds like a teachable moment was wasted. It was a great opportunity to explain how hard it would be for a 14 year old to throw out a major leaguer even on a routine play to the left side or to note that the same shortstop who shuffled the ball around also made a great leaping stab of a line drive that most 14 year olds wouldn't have even bothered try for.

It only looks easy most of the time because these guys are real good.

On the other hand, has any team ever entered the World Series with such a well rested starting rotation?

Um..ok. Their four starters had an ERA over 7 in the NLCS. They averaged 2.6 IP per start, so you are correct. They are well rested. Yes, maybe the most rested. Smile

Really? You take a jab at my kid? LOL.
The play we BOTH laughed at was the shuffle attempt on the bobbled ball up the middle...and the ensuing errant ball rolling into the outfield causing the runners to move up.

Neither my son or myself are under any illusions it's "Easy". You can defend it however you want. It was a sloppy display of defense.

And BTW..my 14/15 year old's would have definitely been diving after that ball.

Moving on.
Well Jon Jay's catch out in CF was awesome.

My fav part of yesterday is David Freese. He burned out in HS and gave up the game but picked it up in college. Before this year he spent most of his time in MLB on and off the DL. He's a hometown boy so his story is even more fun for STL fans. To me he respresents all of the young men who have overcome serious injuries to get back into the game.

Was it the best played game, no, to me looked like there were a lot of emotional stuff going on. When teams play so frequently against each other, they can expose each others faults. A lot of stuff going on not necessarily played on the field. Regardless of the errors, Brewers (as any team that got that far) and their fans should hold their heads up high.
You know, our starting staff hasn't made it far in to games. For sure that is the number one reason the experts are saying we might be done in 4. You know what? In August, we were counted out. In mid September, we were counted out. When Atlanta had the do or die as we did, we were counted out. Then, Philly. Nuff said. No,they aren't pretty. They play hard. They don't have the team Texas has. Still, as a proud member of Cardinal Nation, I'm excited to have our team in the World Series. For these overachievers and a greatful Cardinal Nation, that's enough for now. Go Cardinals!

I didn't take a jab at your kid. I inquired into his qualifications for ridiculing major leaguers. It's one thing to be tickled by the comical bounces the ball took--it was a funny play. But you said your son was laughing at the errors, which I think is unseemly.

I'm sorry that you don't think my son's reaction wasn't proper.

Actually I'm not, but we'll move on.
