NC, you still owe me a root beer...so ...no i won't let it go..but i think you ended up making a great choice anyway...and like I said many times , yes that non conf game meant nothing in the grand scheme of things but still i say should have never lost it...so ...whatever it was it was a debacle or a tabacle..it was a disaster and should have never of happened...and for all you english majors..i'll just let it go...LT will be there in the end this year..they have a great team...anytime anyday anyone can win a baseball game...i love the banttering on this website..it gets the blood flowing...and when you guys start firing back..i love it even more..i miss the HS gamesmanship and Sam Sorce is a great coach who my son played for for 5 years and never once did we blow a 7-1 lead..anyone who wants to dispute that call our score keeper, he had every color imaginable in that book..i'm not saying we didn't lose a game late but not ever with a six run lead in the last 2 innings..good luck to all the HS dads and there sons this year, it will be fun to watch the progress of these guys
Warren 2, Palatine 0
Mario Perez was outstanding 3H, 5K's, 0BB, toughest lefty we have faced this year. Freshman Byron Skinner got a tough lost giving up one earned run, 7H, 3K's, 4BB's and showed some metal in tough situations, has a great future ahead of him.
Game 2
Palatine 2
Prairie Ridge 1
Outstanding defense and pitching all day. Tough day to play.

Palatine starts the season with a 7-2 mark.
HF 0 TF South 0

A pitchers duel between two of the far south suburbs best. It went in the books as a 0-0 tie, with South's Mike Hoekstra and HF's Mark Ahern matching each other zero for zero. Game was called on account of weather.

Each pitcher is committed to play in college with Ahern going to play for St. Francis and Hoekstra going to EIU.

Hoekstra 8 IP 4 hits 0 BB's 8 K's
Ahern 7 IP 3 hits 2 BB (1 Int) 8 K's Retired 13 straight between the 2nd and 6th.

Great game fellas, it was fun to watch!
smashinlash,

Nice trip. I've always respected your program because of the very challenging non-conference games that your coach schedules year in and year out. You will travel to play some of the best teams in the area, unlike all if not most of the schools up north. You should be ready for conference and beyond. I can't wish you luck when you play HP, but we'll be grillin' lunch for your team just the same.
I won't post much about our games but we've run into some pretty good pitching lately. Saturday, in the first game of a DH, we faced Flanigan from Belleville West. It was late in the game and we were in a position to tie. Well, he threw the last few innings and we didn't score. I don't know how hard he was bringing it but he sure made it look easy. Today, we faced Odorizzi from Highland. Scouts had his 1st inning fastball at 91-92. His 7th inning fastball was still 89. We lost today 1-0. I've tried to tell people that we face some pretty stiff competition. These last few days are the perfect example. These last few games, we've not done well. WE'LL HAVE A VERY GOOD PRACTICE TOMORROW! Wink
Fastball---I doubt i will be able to make it to Barrington on wednesday, but if i do i will look for you.

Hopper---Unfortunately my son has been battling bronchitis since last week and it finally got the best of him causing him to stay home today ---of all days --so neither of us were out there . I did hear that Trotta pitched complete game and that Moran knocked home go ahead run in bottom of the sixth . Big win for the program.

Thanks also to you for your downstate report. Like I told CoachB25...I appreciate hearing from you guys in Illinois who are out of the Chicagoland area.

I know the Chicagoland players have enjoyed 'getting out of Dodge' every once in awhile, especially in summer, to play teams around the state.

I hope the efforts continue...there has been plenty of goodwill generated by these games.

It's nice to know about your teams and players before the teams from up here go down to play you guys later.

Thanks again.

thanks for comment - since joining, have definitely felt our downstate input is welcome. Of course we like keeping tabs on all top Chicago area teams. I have pretty good handle along I-72 from Decatur to Quincy...top teams so far in order appears to be:
AA - Chatham Glenwood, Quincy, Taylorville, Jacksonville & Lincoln...Sacred Heart Griffin off to unusual slow start but don't count them out.
A - Rochester, Beardstown, Routt, Williamsville, AC Central/Virginia, Auburn, Pleasant Plains.
