Fellow posters, this is too good not to share. The little back-and-forth that started between ChuckR and myself was one heck of an April's fool joke on me. FBD was the culprit who assumed the moniker of ChuckR, threw the bait in the water and I fell for that hook and ran with it.

Remind me never to play cards with you.
Game 1 was a continuation of the Saturday before last.

Leyden - 4
DGS - 3

Game 2

Leyden - 9
DGS - 12

DGS jumped out to an early lead, 3-0 in the first, we came back with 9 in the 4th. DGS scored 2 in the 4th to bring the score to 9-5. In the bottom of the fifth DGS scored 7 to take the lead, 12-9, which they would hold as the game was called to darkness after 5 innings.

Probably a lot of makeups played today.

Masher, Downers North and Glenbard West made up Saturday's DH with a twi-nighter DH today at Village Green.

Game 1: DGN 12 - GBW 3
Game 2: DGN 8 - GBW 1

Game 3 scheduled for Tuesday, GBW at DGN.

Downers Grove North 2 - Glenbard West 1 in 9 innings.

GBW really battled the entire 9 innings under pretty tough conditions and made some great defensive plays in the bottom of the 6th and 7th innings. My hat's off to those young men.

DGN has quietly won 6 in a row after two tough losses (to Benet and Lockport) bringing their record to 7-2 overall, 3-0 in West Sub Silver.

Lyons loses to OPRF, 13-2. LT beat OPRF a day earlier 10-3, but succumbed to the mighty bats of OPRF, and poor pitching from LT, in the game played yesterday.

Every team is entitled to lose, but not that way. I left in the 4th with OPRF ahead 13-1. I couldn't watch anymore, and it was cold!! I assume, which is not good, that the 'slaughter rule' was invoked. I give my 'props' to OPRF ("ballfan" are you reading this????). They mashed the ball really well against the LT pitchers.

My son played there for four years, and never were they beaten by slaughter. There is little consistency in the infield with players being moved in and out at second. Hochberg needs to stay there. Catching is brutal, and the Winkler kid needs to be in that spot. Poor cut-offs from the outfield. Not good.

The "ERA" is over I'm sad to say.

Wow! That's saying alot Boomer!

LT must have looked pretty good in their first game against OPRF...and conversely OPRF must have looked good in the second game.

Which game is most telling or revealing...the first or the second?

I'm assuming that both LT and OPRF are strong teams this year. Each team got the best of the other on two different days...right?
Sounds like you're prematurely giving up on what will be a very good team. The "ERA" is over?? What ERA?--one summer title and one spring title. This team has won one summer title (I know, not the same as a spring title, but the spring season isn't over yet). Your comment on the "little consistency in the infield" suggests that you haven't seen many games this year. Hoch looks like he's still slowly coming bach from his injury and Ryan Mac is a good player. To rip into the kids (yes, saying the catching is brutal is ripping into the kids) and the coach after your son leaves is in poor taste. Watch the games (or don't watch as you see fit), but keep your public comments on a team that provided a nice opportunity for your son positive please. And no, I don't have a child on this team.
ltobserver....

Boy, I guess you told me!!!!!!!!!!!

Until Ushela quits playing favorites and puts the "best" players on the field your going to see those kinds of scores and mistakes. Positive, yes I'm positive, but I can't stand favoritism. Why do you put a kid who has had shoulder injuries in the outfield? Yes he's fast and can track down fly balls....put him in the infield. Move your shortstop to the outfield. They are both good enough athletes to handle it. Put the "best" defensive catcher behind the plate! Period. Pitching....not enough off-speed stuff, and I don't mean curve balls. The other teams are creaming their fastballs.

By the way, when I saw coach at the Brother Rice game, he didn't remember my name. Coach Ledbetter from Oak Park knows my name!!! "So what" you say, well after four years of seeing him at games and talking with him on occasion you would think he could remember a players parents name. I didn't have to be important to him like other parents need to be, you know, the old brown nose!!! My son created his own opportunities through hard work, all-year-round, so don't preach to me about what opportunity the team provided. Oh, and one more thing, he didn't play on one of those elite travel teams that was talked about at the time either. He probably wasn't good enough.

GO Boomer Go boomer...it was good to have a few of the "old" boys back watching at LT...yes OP-RF got the best of them on that day but LT is a solid team and will bounce back..I think I may have said this once or twice on here "anyday anytime anyone" it was a good day for op-rf and congrats to them...coach leddy, nice job..coach ush, you will not let the boys hang there heads...remember one thing your kid learned from coach ush boomer..."positives" maybe we should have gone to those classroom sessions...positives dude LT was a great fit for andy and these guys will be right in the thick of it in the end....afterall it's LT baseball..i can't wait for mike f to bring some from that comment, btw your son (flanny) is doing a great job...hope he keeps it up c-ya boomer positives baby(brown nose that i am)
