KD...Hope you never have to play SGP!!!
Now they can be outrageous!! Parents cursing, really spewing some vile stuff!!...police were called to "aid" their exit from the field! Eek

As long as kids are being kids, I don't take it personally...I don't condone, & do "wish" they weren't so immature...but understand that some teens are going to be loud mouths...As long as they aren't trash talking, cussing, inciting, threatening, looking to pick a fight...it should pass. We don't have any of that at Smith, thank God!

Something for the Game

10 Commandments of Heckling
as taken from The Bleacher Bible
by Chris Snead

Commandment I - Thou shalt not use profanity
Remember this one thing, baseball is still a family sport. Fathers and sons, mom and dad, the whole family. Nobody wants to hear you spouting off a bunch of @#$&%!
Commandment II - Thou shalt not insult the mother
This should be obvious. What good would come from saying something about someone else's mother? Is that what we want? I don't think so. Leave mom out of it. We don't need any of this garbage at our games. We want people to appreciate what we do, not resent us for it.
Commandment III - Thou shalt be intelligent
Do I really need to explain this? Know what you are talking about. Remember, credibility lends respect to your task.
Commandment IV - Thou shalt love baseball
Is there any doubt about this? Who in this great country would disparage America's pasttime? If you don't love baseball, what are you doing here?
Commandment V - Thou shalt be aware of the people around you
This is a really touchy one. Even though some of the funniest stuff you may have may be about overweight guys or bald guys, the person next to you may not think it's terribly funny.
Commandment VI - Thou shalt be witty
Only one rule to remember here: if you are the only one laughing, it wasn't funny.
Commandment VII - Thou shalt not overkill
Listen, if somebody does something funny in the first inning, you should not keep ragging on it in the fifth. The more you say something, the less effective it becomes. You must be aware that the same stuff gets really old after a couple of games - especially in a series against the same team. Unless something is really working on one or two guys, put it away for a couple or three games.
Commandment VIII - Thou shalt be friendly
The best way to make these guys listen to you and divert their attention from the task at hand is to be just as nice as you can be. When you look into the dugout, wave and say, "Hi guys!"
Commandment IX - Thou shalt not cross the line
That line is the line of brutality. Look, the players know that heckling is part of the game. Don't make it personal between you and the players. Remember, they have bats, you don't.
Commandment X - Thou shalt remember the children
No matter what you want to believe about role models, the children are watching and listening. They hear what you say and see what you do. Be aware of that when you sit in the stands. If you don't know whether you fit the bill, just ask yourself, would you want your best friend's kid sister or brother to sit next to you at the next ball game? Well, would you?

And with statements like this I reiterate your posts speak for themselves.
Sounds like some need to look up the term "rabbit ears" That stuff that's said in the stands rarely is heard by the players on the field. If it is, they aren't doing their job and staying focused on the business at hand. Wasn't there so I can't comment on the batter that fouled one off on his knee. When it gets classless 1 head coach will tell the other and it'll be taken care of. Clemente is right ~ wait a couple of weeks when you head to the LAND OF THE WOODS. Someone will see a new level of baseball. Shocking to put it mildly. Our crowd didn't wear hallos either.~ it just gets intense. Good luck to both squads. Have a great Game Two.

Just trying to make a point that its gonna happen! This thread isn't gonna change the attitude or actions of those doing the heckling. I was just trying to give my opinion that some will let those same people ruin the game for them. The action is on the field and I have my own opinions ~ I don't borrow them from other posters. Worry about what you can change...talking about it only brings more of em out to do more of the same. If they think they're getting under your skin...they'll multiply like guppies.
I wasn't at the game, was watching Holaday shut my kids team down. However, I've had the luxury of witnessing many playoff games that involved heckling. IMO.....injured players are off limits.
Cussing is off limits because many players have younger siblings at the game, and lastly, parents shouldn't heckle. If the student body wants to get rowdy, well, OK. But a 45 year old in jorts telling a kid he "sucks" seems out of place. Probably the same guy that smacks his kid when he strikes out because he makes dad look bad. JMO
JAFO,
Lighten up! Man, go get a glass of iced tea or something!

Our kids weren't cussing, threatening, inciting, trying to pick a fight! Our administrators won't put up with it!
They were laughing..., but nothing warranting intervention by the administrators.

Your player was NOT INJURED! He returned to play, right?? So, that is the important thing, RIGHT?

Rowlett lost & you want to jab at me now. I'm not into your contentiousness. And, you are entitled to your opinions, just like anyone else. You started this thread a couple days ago & it appears from your attack on pg 2 your are acting like a sore loser.

Why don't you root for your team, instead?
Get into the baseball game, & let the players show you what a good time they are having! They are trying to accomplish something important to them. Your time would be better spent focusing on supporting them, your team!

I hope both play their very best!

I just want the Trojans come out the winner again today! Then we will move on! clapping
It's baseball! Try to enjoy it!

Go Trojans! clapping

Well, several more post since I started composing this..
For the record, KD was referring to his game, Keller vs. Lewisville, re the cussing.
The player from Rowlett was hit in the knee by a foul ball. He returned, so it wasn't anything serious..
Like I said above, I hope both teams have a great game today!!

Well it seems like the Trojans had their hands full today as the Rowlett starting pitcher was on his A game making our hitters look foolish throughout the game. The Trojans pulled off a tough victory against a well matched opponent, Rowlett. To comment on the fans, I know the "Posse" can get a little wild and out of control, but the Newman Smith players were not laughing at the foul ball incident unlike the Rowlett players who thought it was hilarious when a line drive struck our pitchers ankle. The posse, unlike the ladder crew don't shout derogatory and racial comments at a player or tell players to meet them in the parking lot after the game? TALK ABOUT CLASSLESS!!

I don't know what game you were at. The Trojans are a very cocky arrogant team and very classless IMHO but they also were the better team no doubt
