Guerin rallied in the second game of the dh behind starting freshman pitcher Cory Herbert. Tim Reiger pitched brilliantly in relief and also contributed offensively with a grand slam into the wind at Wing Park in Elgin.

In a game lacking defense it was Highland Park over Wauconda 12-7 as the teams combined for 11 errors (at least). Before we call the eye doctors let me state the field is rock hard because the water at Wolters Field has been shut off due to a construction problem. Big Rick Johnston got the victory, going all seven innings. HP, down 5-1 going into the bottom of the 6th HP scored 11 times.

Ryan Crowley won Game 1, giving up five hits and striking out 14 in a complete game. Victor Cuellar was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Danny Gonzales won Game 2, throwing 5 1/3 and giving up two runs on four hits for Morton (12-4, 6-2 West Suburban Gold).
