Our game is tomorrow as well. In our regional, we got rain on Wednesday, which pushed the games back a day. We couldn't play on Friday however because of graduation, so our semifinal was Saturday and the championship is supposed to be today. My guess is one or both of those schools had graduation Saturday and they couldn't find a time to play the game.

Perhaps your idea of who #4 pitcher is and who # 2 or #3 pitcher is may be different than what the coaches thought.

Seems to me they have done pretty well over there at ND (State Champs) and just because they lost doesn't mean it was the coach's fault. How many runs did ND score?

JMHO

FBD makes a good point. One that is overlooked, is scouting report.

Last night in the NCAA regionals championship game, Army vs. #1 national seed Texas, Army elects to start their midweek starter instead of a 6'7" 94 mph lefty weekend starter. The reason? Texas has problems hitting soft tossing lefties, but hits the hard throwers just fine.

Sometimes the coaches are dumb like foxes. Other times they might be too smart for their own good.

I think Army may have outthunk themselves. I think they were in the drivers seat to win the regional. At this time of year, I go with velocity - in my experience, it usually does the trick. At this time of year, all the college hitters are down anywhere from 10-20 lbs in weight and strength. I think the 6-7 guy could have devastated them. Of course, now we will never know.
The problem with choosing who to start depends a lot on the outcome. If that Army starter would have shut Texas out, then the coach would have been a genius. That happens a lot in sports, where a coach goes with someone unexpected because the other team can't hit lefties, night game, etc and it ends up working. But with that being said, it also works, where a coach goes with the #1 and he shuts that team down. Then there are all those people who second guess the coach and said well you should have started this guy instead of that guy. That's why coaching is so difficult, because no matter what you think may happen, you never really know.
kudos to Rich Pildes and the Taft Eagles!! they went further in the state playoffs then expected. beating Notre Dame and then Leyden. Nice Job!!
the players and the coaches deserve recognition!!!

Good coaching makes a difference! Rich as a great baseball guy!!! he gets the most out of his players. he proved it here and proves it in the summers with the Norwood Blues!

he knows baseball. he showed it during his winning run in the tournament!!! Job well done
Congrats!!!
Good game today in the Lakes Sectional Semifinal. Johnsburg P Jerad Grundy threw a complete game one-hitter while striking out 13 against Glenbard South. If my information is correct, this would be the first time the Skyhawks have made it to the sectional final in there school's history.

With Grundy throwing 90+ pitches it should be interesting to see who Coach Giesey throws on Saturday. Happy Playoff Baseball!

Stevenson tops Lake Zurich 1-0 in the Barrington Sectional. Clemson bound Scott Firth pitches a gem of a 3 hitter and avoids trouble in the 6th with the bases loaded and 7th with men at 1st and 2nd. Lake Zurich starter Chas Evans takes his first loss of the season.

Barrington will meet Stevenson tomorrow for the sectional championship.
The Fox Valley has clearly proved that they belong with the elite. Cary Grove had such a great year. Tonight's game could have swung either way. New Trier had just enough offense to get ahead. Cook was clearly the difference tonight. Cary has nothing to hang their heads about. They battled right to the last out. PR and Central last year and Cary and Grayslake Central this year. Well done !
