Was not at the games but thought I would update from the Herald how the Msl is starting out this year. Enjoy the crossovers, should be some interesting match ups.
Riddle - what do you get when you combine two decent offensive teams (Bethalto Civic Memorial & Jacksonville) in a non-conference DH, wind blowing out 30-35 mph consistently, an short fences? 17 HR's, 57 hits, 52 runs...not to mention some roughed up ERA's.
Jacksonville 13
BCM 3
WP - Chaser Todd (CG)
Jacksonville 11
BCM 24

Also perhaps best central IL baseball team Chatham Glenwood now 15-1 following 7-3, 13-10 over Morton.
In a well played (by both teams) 9 inning thriller it was Highland park over Glenbrook North 5 -3. Jon Menke started for HP and went 7 innings, departing with the score knotted at 3-3. Tyler Goldstein saw his first action of the year, picking up the win with 1 inning of relief, as Anthony Kopp hurled the final inning to close out GBN. HP improves to 20-2.
In their second wild n' whooly thriller this week, Glenbrook North avenged their Tuesday extra inning loss to Highland Park by downing the Giants in 10 innings, 9-6. AJ Nathan continues his amazing year, as he homered twice and also doubled. He entered the game hitiing an even .600 and was 3 for 5. The Giants fell to 20-3 (8-2).
