I really hope this is a vote focusing on issues not the rhetoric/news clips that someone is "flipflopping." I am a registerred Republican who does not want my or anyone else's son drafted to fight a war that should not ever have been started. Did you see 60 Minutes last night? We have young men fighting this war and their parents are buying the required equipment. What type of military preparedness is that. We are also leaving all these young people we talk about so dearly on this website with massive debt and economic problems while passing taxcuts that are ridiculous. Guess that shows I am pretty disillusioned with the Republican. If Kerry had run on issues and presented his platform this would be easy. The fact that he didn't made this much more difficult than needed, at least for me.
I am voting tomorrow against a candidate and not for one.

I am casting my ballot for a candidate that I am not 100% in favor of. I am casting my ballot against a candidate. For the highest office in our land and the most powerful man in the world, I would prefer a more clear cut choice.

There are no more Harry Trumans in the world of politics........our choice of which priviledged multi-millionare, who states he knows what its like to be "one of us" is pretty thin indeed.......

Just for fun's sake (I Don't want a political argument), but there was a measure introduced this year to re-institute the draft. It was introduced by a Democrat from California. Roll Eyes

In politics, anything goes, everything is said and if you believe 30% of what's reported on TV, you're gullible.

Why did they ever outlaw dueling? I could live with that selection process.

That's a good one! But it might be higher than 4%.

It's not that WI folks have a drinking problem, it's because they don't have a problem drinking. party

Think about it. With what you need to go through to get elected and what they get paid, no one with the intelligence to actually do the job well, would want the job!

I propose a 6 year, 1 term presidency that pays $1,000,000 per year. No need to pander to the special interest groups, cause you can't get re-elected.
Moc, this came from those serving in Iraq, their commanding officers and was verified by Sen. John McCain. McCain's view is that members of Congress and the administration have still not come to grips that our troops/young men are fighting and dieing in a war and need bullets, etc. Yes there is a shortage of bullets. If there is 50% accuracy to the story, outrage should exist. I hope your LOL isn't heard by the Oregon National Guard troops fighting in Iraq who were interviewed.

If your Country calls, you go.....Fathers and sons before you did, so should you......Many soldiers died protecting America....Many more will do the same........God bless them....

Parents will believe anything.....Just go to any ball game and listen to them talk about their kids.....Required equipment to fight a war?......Yeah, right.....

60 Minutes?......CBS?.....You've got to be kidding.....Propaganda/lying at it's finest......This is who brought you Dan Rather......IMO, he is a treasonist dating back to the Vietnam conflict.......

Real Reason To Vote For Bush

Okay, forget Iraq, the economy, health care, social security, and all the other lesser issues. There is a BIG baseball reason to vote for Bush:

Kerry has said he was at Shea Stadium for the 1986 World Series game 6, when Saint Bill Buckner let the ball go through his legs. He even was quoted as saying he had a champagne bottle ready to pop. Ignoring the issue of getting booze into (as opposed to in) Shea stadium, it has been confirmed that Kerry was in Boston that evening at a political dinner. Kerry's spokesman told ESPN he went to the dinner then took the shuttle to New York and caught the end of the game.

Problems with this:

1. When did a political dinner last end at 6:00 or 7:00, in time to get all the travel done and catch a game? (never) When did a smart politician last leave a political dinner early? (never)

2. Even if he left early, he got through the notorious Boston traffic, caught a shuttle, got transportation from the airport in New York City, and made it through New York's traffic in time to catch the end of the game?
(Not likely)

3. Assume he really did do all of this-would a true Red Sox fan, with the Sox up 3 games to 2, against a NEW YORK team, one game away from breaking the curse, with seats 30 feet from Buckner, really skip that game?
(No way)

4. How many true Red Sox fans went to a political dinner as opposed to watching the potential World Series clincher?

(zip/nada)

Aside from every other issue, on the baseball issue, the man is either a non-truth teller, and he really wasn't at the game, OR, he told the truth but he's a ding **** for skipping most or all of that game for a political dinner.

Either offense is impeachable........

p.s. sorry, I didn't know ding d o n g was a banned expression, meant here only in the cleanest sense of the word.

Last time I checked GW claimed to be the Commander in Chief and in charge of the way the $200 billion allocated and approved by Congress is to be spent.
I don't read anything here to suggest posters to this site are part of that "large undecided" group. I certainly respect that. My primary concern is that information is rejected not because it may be true but because of where it came from. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Like I said, if the 60 Minutes coverage of troops not being properly equipped is even 50% correct, the outrage should not be with 60 Minutes. With that I am done on this topic as this is a baseball site.

As a Wisconsinite, I take offense at this comment!

1) we don't have that high of a illegal Immigrant problem, we don't let the Canadians in.

2) It will take more then 3 cases of beer to give us a headache and more then that to keep us from voting.

Hell, we drink more then 3 cases before going deer hunting 14

If it comes from 60 Minutes, Dan Rather, or CBS in general, then, it's not true......It's liberal propaganda and lies...... Wink

Walter Cronkite spread his liberal propaganda and lies when Rather was an on-site reporter....One liar takes over for another liar.....It's been going on for many years....

Putting this back to baseball, 2 for 24, not a good average--better be a pitcher.

Okay, I am back.
Moc, putting questions about the lives and conditions of soldiers fighting in Iraq into a comparison to baseball averages is pretty offensive to me. If this 60 Minutes article is one of those two which is legitimate, I don't care about averages. But if you think it is the messenger and not the message that needs to be evaluated, that is why we live in America. For me, I look and evaluate the message without caring who is the messenger.

I feel silly answering this, but as everyone knows Curt is the new spiritual leader of Red Sox Nation. That's gotta count for sump'em. Smile

I'll admit I'm betwixt and between because the Red Sox Brass is backing the challenger.

I think I'll have to wait on how Manny Ramirez feels about the subject before committing.

Maybe Theo can use that "Moneyball" background and get us a 2-1 deal. Swap our two candidates for one who is productive and at a better price.
