OP,
Eggleston's dad is Dan Eggleston......not a minor league pitcher. Insurance is his business, I believe.
Be good,
David
I appreciate the info. It's just not a name you hear every day, so I thought maybe it was his son.
Basefan12,
Great point on the JUCO signees that may go D1 if they have a big spring. You went in a different direction than what most folks think of when the question is asked - that the player doesn't go to the D1 school because of the draft. There is also the Jordan Walden scenario, where he signed with Texas but is at a JUCO. I think there are several players in the state who could opt out of a D1 for a JUCO based on draft opportunity in '08.

Uncle E....
The lure of drafting a HS player, and going to a JUCO may begin to lose favor with the MLB execs, as the "draft and follow" rules has been eliminated.
More and more, you are seeing the MLB teams take the seasoned college players, especially pitchers, over the HS players. At the D1 level, the play is approaching that of the lower minor league systems.
Be good,

quote:The rules have since changed. The term draft-and-follow has gone extinct starting in 2007. Drafted players, other than college seniors, must be signed by August 15.
The draft-and-follow enabled clubs to maintain exclusive rights to a drafted player up until one week prior to the next year’s draft, if that player attended junior college. The club, however, lost any rights when a drafted high schooler decided to attend a four-year college or a drafted college player returned to school and attended his first class.
Draft-and-follow was often employed to enable an emerging player to gain another year of experience but still allow the drafting team the option to attempt to sign him before he would be eligible to re-enter the draft the following June.
Teams no longer have that luxury.

There is a connection to Chris Eggleston from the Orioles. He is a cousin to Chance's grandfather who is now retired down in Florida. I understand they do not have much contact. I did find out that the Orioles have contacted Chance and expressed an interest for the upcoming draft. Turns out the Orioles have a cross checker scout that lives in the Houston Area.
Congrats to Michael and his family!!!!! Michael is not only a talented baseball player but was the QB for TCA's team this year.....
Wishing Michael the best this season at TCA (last year's state champion) and next year at MCC.

OBN - I will see Michael tomorrow and give him your best. No other seniors have committed to play anywhere at this point. We did manage to add Jack Giese as our assistant coach (assisting head coach Jack Sharp), so.... our motto this season is:
TCA is All "Jacked Up" for 2007!

What a nice fit to TCA, Jack is a great coach, OBN's son had a couple pitching lesson's with him late/summer early/Fall and he was great.....
So if both coaches are in the Press Box is it "Jacks in a Box"
Have a great SEASON!!!!!!

Well, Giese helped coach Greenhill to a state championship -- and I think their 5th grade team won an SPC title last year -- perhaps he can elevate TCA's program!
Perhaps he can help TCA REPEAT as STATE CHAMPS!
Oops Jim, I forgot about that....
Momandcpa
Just think if a player gets hurt (let's hope not) then are they "Jacked Up".
All kidding aside, Good Luck TCA, add another Ring to the collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, sent you a PM...

Naw, don't do that.
Jack Sharp is awesome! With that said:
I remember jacks. Now that TCA has added their second, does that mean once they toss the ball in the air they've finished onesies and are going for twosies?
I know, a s t r e a t c h at best.

I remember T. Street from the old HVA days. CONGRATS to him and to Chase.....I wish them continued success.
Jarret Disinski Nolan Catholic signed with Ottawa University in Kansas.
I believe that means Chase Baine and Adam Boydston(going to UTA I believe) will be playing against each other in league play. probably been a while since they faced each other. great news for all three players. looking for a big year out of these three if the mighty falcons are to make it happen.
