I echo what was mentioned that before you spend lots of time and money on only one company's showcase you look into others showcases, especially those locally that are free or considerable cheaper. In my opinion, I don't think it can be simulated in a cage. For one, a players intensity and concentration is not the same as it is in the game. Different things happen when they turn the score-board on and there's a guy standing on the mound with a different color jersey on. I think the only way one can get use to hitting a 90mph fastball is by facing a live pitcher at 60'6". Regards, Jalal Leach CEO Baseball Mentoring Program www.bmp18.com

Great idea and some good suggestions already. I would try to keep it simple and focused on your objectives for staff. Pick the 5 most important things you want them focused on and fill in some background information from there. Every one of the kids should be able to repeat to you what ever “your 5” is. Use the KISS approach. I would build the book up over time and not try to do the full thing in one pass. Webball has some stuff you can extract and potentially use at: www.webball.com .

The common charts that are kept are a scorebook (with notes), pitchers chart, opposing pitchers chart, spray chart, Catcher's Performance Summary, and there are other different ones that some teams choose to keep. I have some of those posted on the downloads page of my website www.catching-101.com, and other can be found through a google search.

Re: How to contact college coaches

CoachS ·
You ask a good question, but there are three or four things you need to consider as well: 1) Getting recruited is directly related to how many college coaches know you, know OF you, and/or have seen you play. Some college coaches are fine with video, others are more "old school" and need to see you in person to pass judgement. 2) Which coaches and which schools you contact is, to a large degree, a guessing game as to whether or not you would be considered a good or hot prospective recruit.

You can specify a sport, and varsity level, and D1,2 or 3, or all. You can specify colleges with a particular major (eg. accounting). It will give you a list of all the schools meeting your criteria, and allow you to sort it. Try sorting by declining math or verbal SAT scores. That will give you a rough academic ranking of the schools. You'll find you...

Pedropere great tip. Naviance is very helpful to establish a baseline. It has its limitations but is a good 'reality check.' OP, (and any of us looking for similar input) keep in mind that without seeing the transcript, it is very hard to make a generalization about what colleges to look at. As we all know, baseball (or any sport) can be a tipping factor for admissions but one that is VERY hard to predict.
