Re: Summer Match-ups

Dtiger ·
No, I play on the number one Tiger team. That was coached by Lowry when we won Super Series, and then Dusty Hart last year. To add confusion, and enhance my frustration of the Marshal ordeal, McCabe became our coach this year because Coach Hart took the head coaching job at Grayson. He brought over some of his players, and was going to coach...and yet now the coach they thought they had is gone... That's for the other message board.

I must admit this is the most entertaining discussion we have had in the pitching forum for quite some time. I think I will go watch my son's next bullpen and do some drag line analysis. I am not sure if he will be admitted to the Kingdom of SAD or not. He is certainly not a member of the Genghis Marshal Khan clan.

After some sleep I realized LineDrive is right, this topic is exactly why I started coming to this site, I needed advise. I felt bad because none of out baseball friends told us about the DFW - Select Baseball Superstructure and there was no one place to go for advice. Everyone was interested in making sure there son had a spot on "the" team. The question about Premier Association Teams is very fair and the real answer is if your son is invited to a P team or makes a P team through a try-out...

Re: Questions about Premier Baseball

John G. ·
For what it is worth...IMO the reason that there is an assumption that the Mustangs have declined is because during the 90's the Mustangs were "it" they were the "one" team that everyone knew was good, stacked, and dominant...not the group of teams you see now! Like I mentioned before RESULTS are still there....

Re: The Pitching Experts

TPM ·
RJM, For a 14 year old I would keep it kind of simple, Wolforth, Strom, House and Ellis provide easy and basic stuff, Jaeger a good, but as JH says some of his stuff is unorthodox and maybe for the older pitcher. Many pitchers are taught "Marshal tenents". I am not sure if that is what they really are to begin with.

CoachB25, You don’t owe anyone an apology. You have my utmost respect and support. It has been said by a good friend, a moderator, and a well respected member of this site, that the Illinois Forum is perceived as the toughest forum on the HSBBW… with Texas a close second. I was surprised when he said that… I didn’t see it. I look at it as the banter in a lively locker room, trading pit, or dinner table of a large family… not to be taken too seriously… like all the talk about the Cubs having...

Re: Rice bucket exercises

BobbleheadDoll ·
I would never do that just before throwing. Rice buckets were used in marshal arts to strengthen fingers. If you are going to do it do it after you throw. Part of pitching is being able to feel the ball and apply finger presure. Arm shpuld be lose and not over worked before pitching.

Re: Rice bucket exercises

I agree. I think this can be useful to develop hand strength, which can help with one's curveball in particular, but you shouldn't do it right before pitching.

Re: DBAT MUSTANGS

Every family has to make their own decision regarding their child's select baseball experience. If your player is currently a Marshal or a Tiger or any other team, and you are happy with the organization, why would you leave or have a problem with this merger...it doesn't affect you, nor does it drive up any costs to you. As far as that goes, this merger was just announced, so we don't know yet how it will impact the area baseball, if it does at all. Regarding the recruiting of players on...

Re: Phoenix Connie Mack Qualifier

I don't remember seeing a post where anyone claimed that the Firebirds were not the best team. I didn't claim that to be the case. I wasn't there -- I can't comment on which team was best. For the most part, the topic recounts the games...with good pictures from one of the dads. None of the TIger or DBAT or Patriot or Marshal parents came on here to claim their team is the best. The Firebirds could very well have been the best team there --- and they may be the best 18U team in AABC. They...

You said it. “Read between the lines” and “Stacked” What else are you implying? “The Firebirds could very well have been the best team there”. There is no other conclusion they won! I bet you a nickel you’re not done. "Last year, he was heard telling others that the rude Texans would never play there again". Your organization came back this year and will be back the next.

When my kid looked into the D-bat fall team last year was told the cost was around $300 per player. Team was going to Texas, Baylor, A&M and others to play on the campus. Got that and a shirt & cap. He was not chosen to play. No sour grapes. We found another team. But I do have questions about this fall. 1) So why so much more now and they DON'T get to go to those schools? 2) Also what is the purpose of saying the big team kids will be on the team? We all know that the kids that were...

What does "On the field" mean in this context, does it mean spread and use the whole field?

iplaybaseballtoo ·
Rewording question because people are having trouble understanding it. Before I go into the details here is the premise of the argument if someone says "do you want to take an infield/outfield on the field?" during warmups before a game where would you go? The two choices are to the outfield where you do a infield/outfield, or to your normal game position on the field. The answer should solely be based on how the question was phrased. I got into this debate with my friend because he stated...
