Prairie Ridge 13 5 inning game slaughter
Jacobs 0

Continuation of suspended game from Tuesday. Joe Zwerzynski and Sam Zagone combined to pitch a perfect game. PR was leading Tuesday 4-0 with 2 runners on when the game was suspended. PR finished the job when the game started again. I know the coach from Jacobs wanted PR to start over rather than finish the game from Tuesday. At least one parent got particularly ugly as players were leaving the complex boarding the bus.
Dear Mr. (PR) Hobbs

Where you at the game?

I guess your (and it is your) team is very proud to beat Jacobs JV team wih your A team. In fact PR was stealing bases when up by 11 runs. Thats BUSCH Leauge buddy. So you start a JR pitcher against Jacobs the other day. Then finish with one of your aces against Jacobs JV team today. Now thats being creative. Hats off to a very smart coaching staff that has no respect for thier opponent. Oh I forgot in the Flyers Classic PR went 0-2 with only 2 runs in 2 games DEAD LAST place. Good luck in the playoffs when you go home with a loss after the first game in the regional. Your Class 4A team is playing in the 3A Regional. Give me a break. I think everyone is gearing up toward regionals. Can't believe Rita, Rice, Sandburg, St. Laurence are all in the same regional. You have 2 teams that made it down state last year in the same regional. They need to do a better job of seeding and seperating teams that are top 10 teams so they don't meet and knock each other out in my opinion. I know there's good teams everyone but Rita, Rice, Sandburg are 3 of the top 10 teams in the state right now.
To Marco, don't you think that you are being a little rough on Roy. It was your team's decision to make it a JV game. They played some of their starters because they respected Jacobs as a conference opponent. Truthfully, the pitchers that they pitched haven't been getting a lot of innings. You may call Zagone an ace but he isn't one of their starting three, albeit he could probably start for other teams. Why should he suffer and not get innings in games like these? What games should he pitch if he doesn't start the division games?
It's called frustration. When you can't stop the opponent from scoring and your team cannot even get a hit or a base on balls you look for something to lash out about, or you complain that a team threw a good pitcher against your team. It's a normal feeling that I have experienced myself and I'm sure many others have as well. It's just that mature adults don't express those feelings publicly.

No

I do not think I'm being a litle rough with Roy

In fact who told you that it was Jacobs decision to make it a JV game. PR had all there starters in. Not some but all until the end of the game. If as you say, they respected Jacobs as a conference opponent and PR knew before the game that Jacobs would have the JV squad in, then why did PR have their A team in. Thats not respect.

Answer me on why PR was base stealing with Jacobs down by 11.

Thats poor....

Highland Park had a wild ride this week. Monday Garrett Gordon took the 1-0 loss against Deerfield, despite only giving up 3 hits. Dickstein made the pitches when he needed to and held HP at bay. HP then beat Gordon Tech 13-0 before evening up the score against Deerfied by winning 13-4 as Jon Menke improved to 6-2. AJ Nathan had two home runs in the game, one a grand slam as he had 8 RBI's on the day. Last night HP beat Loyola 11-9 in 8 innings in a great see-saw game to go to 22-6 on the year. We close against Mundelein on Saturday.
nice victory by the Ridge, that means 15-0 in conference, first time that's ever been done. By the way, Crystal Lake Central head coach Jeff Aldridge will step down after the season. Also, does anyone know if Whitney Young advanced to the Public League final? I know it was an easy go for them to get to the semis with Troy White and Julian Kenner leading the way.
Prairie Ridge 6
Grant 2

Heesch pitched complete game giving up one HR and one unearned run. Kyle Stroup pitched the complete game as well. Stroup was gunnedn at 91 a couple of different innings. Martin, Jacoby, Swank, Ljundgren, Baran, Butler and Mitroff all had big hits today. With Martini having to sit because of an ejection...the Ridge came to play.Logan Olson laid down a perfect squeeze play.
Batavia 4
York 8
12 innings
Batavia left 17 on base, 9 in extra innings, had the winning run thrown out at the plate in the bottom of the seventh - and York made them pay.
Batavia's Jordan Coffee threw 10 innings (3 ER, 7 K) and deserved better than a ND - also had three hits. Beckmann, Drish 2 hits apiece. Both teams made some terrific defensive plays to deep the game going.
