Ben,

I have this funny feeling it was those two hr workouts and a lot of skill.

Nice job!
The best part of the whole deal was the e-mail he sent me afterwards:

"March 19- W 10-0 0 BBs 9 Ks 0 Hits. We came out ready to play."

That's the entire e-mail. I can't wait to see what the next two months hold for this kid.

It said Riggins dropped two bombs on me.
In their first game today, Highland defeated Edwardsville. Its been a long time since that has happened. Danny Gifford got the win for Highland and while he doesn't get near the recognition that Jake Ordorizzi gets, Danny is pretty good. Jake played SS and came in to pitch the 7th. Jake also hit the big fly.

Highland - 4
Edwardsville - 0
Two scores from today, Saturday March 29, 2008:

Prairie Ridge 10, Palatine 0 (5 inn.)
RHP T.J. Swank threw five scoreless innings, yielding just one hit and striking out 6. SS Bobby Martin had two hits and 3 RBI.

Prairie Ridge 2, Bartlett 0
LHP/OF Nick Martini threw four scoreless innings, also giving up just one hit. He struck out 8 and also scored both runs on a double and a walk. LHP Mike Heesch got the save, with 5 K's in 3 inn.

The Ridge still has yet to give up a run in the three games they have played this season.

We might not ever play ball again. It is pouring right now. With tonight's rain, we have broken the all-time record for rain in our area for the month of March. Now the forecast if for clear skys tomorrow after the 2 inches of rain tonight stop. Then, rain for thursday, friday, saturday, monday.

Side note, one of the young ladies (16 years old) that plays on my daughter's softball team was driving home last Friday night from softball practice (Indoors) and came across a road under water. She didn't think it too bad and so she eased into it. Long story short, she was washed downstream. She had the quick thinking to lower her window because they were electric and she knew they wouldn't work if she went underwater. Her car bounced off of several trees and she knew her car was headed for where the river really was. She jumped out of her car onto a tree. She was heard screaming by a farm boy who was also out in the rain. She was rescued but suffered from hyperthermia. We're so fortunate to have her alive. Naturally her concern is that her car is gone. WOW!

CoachB, we come down this weekend to play three games in Marissa. Anywhere near you? I've been waiting to hear that they're under water down there.

I waited until I saw the latest weather to respond. We are supposed to have severe storms on Thursday into Thursday night and sticking around until Friday morning. Marissa is about 45 minutes South of me. Saturday 61 degrees and Sun. However, it will really depend upon how much rain these severe storms bring in. We're as wet as it gets. Several baseball/softball games were cancelled in our area today despite in not raining because the ground is just too saturated. Heck, even the OF are loaded with water. On our softball field today, our coach had to take a pump out to get the water off so that the sun won't burn it tomorrow. That's how much water was on our OF. BTW, and just for fun, every day next week has rain in the forecast. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!
