Statewide Showdown in Bartonville
Game 1: O'Fallon 9, Limestone 4-O'Fallon looked good. Speed at the top and I really liked their 3-4-5 hitters of Stanton, Tindall and Johnson. Limestone's Kevin Scheffler hit two to the track into a howling wind, balls that would have surely been gone on a normal day.
Game 2: IVC 5, Beardstown 0: Two of the best junior pitchers in the state, IVC's Chris Razo and Beardstown's Tanner Howell got hooked up in this one. Razo was perfect through four, gave up two hits in the fifth. Drasen Johnson pitched the fifth and sixth for the Ghosts.
Tanner Howell also looked pretty good. Didn't give up many hard-hit balls at all. The wind made his knuckler just dance.
Game 3: Quincy Notre Dame 1, Driscoll Catholic 0: 13 innings Just a great game. I felt bad that I was going to miss most of this game, but I still saw the last seven innings. Both teams had opportunities in regulation and multiple times in extra innings, but QND snuck one across in the top of the 13th to get the win.
Game 4: Troy Triad 8, Washington 2: Washington led 2-0, but Triad exploded for a five-run fifth, including a bases-loaded double by Eric Allard and a two-run homer by Trevor Hall, only ball hit out all day.
Just a great day of great baseball. The QND folks kept apologizing for taking so long, but we wouldn't have had it any other way. Just fun to watch. If anyone is interested in coming down next year, shoot me a PM.

Hey Marco, What's the problem? The guy is just posting scores. The kids can't help what conference they play in. Besides, I think PR would put this year's schedule up with anyone. R E L A X.

Deerfield played New Trier on Sat. (05/03). Sam Dickstein did a nice job on the mound. Going into the bottom of the 5th, New Trier was leading by only 2 runs, 2-0. Final score 4-0.
Haven't had a whole lot to write about this year... But I will say that Warren beat number 7 ranked Mundelein tonight 2-0. I will follow that up by saying that we probably had their number 3 or 4 today, but silencing those bats was a feat.

Nequa Valley 15
Both teams used sophmore and Junior to pitch instead of their aces. Game was 6-6 after 3 innings...game got out of hand with several walks, hit batters and a wind blown grand slam. Plus another one late. But Nequa sure can swing it that is for sure and not a fluke. Kind of sad both teams looked at it as not that crucial in terms of each others programs. Would have been nice to see Kroll and Swank on the hill...but so be it.

NO HITTER!!!
Hard Luck loser Nick Brown was very sharp as well. Bottom of the 7th Single after a couple errors was the difference.
Game was over in an hour and five minutes. A coaches dream. Great D and many strikes.
Pat also ran his innings without a walk to 35 in a row and running...
Don't worry NCdad, dont beleive in the jinksy stuff. Pass on my best. He was very impressive.

Highland Park finished their sweep of Maine East this week, with both Garret Gordon and Jon Menke recording 1 hitters for HP. On Tuesday HP won 10-0 in 5 innings. Today was Maine East leading 1-0 after 5 before HP put 3 on the board. Menke went 5; Anthony Kopp closed it out with 2 scoreless and hitless innings.

Good game through 5 innings. Martini and Fedorowicz pitched very well. PR defense made some great plays defensively. Strong game behind the dish throwing out runnners in at least two key situations. Will Mack delivered again. Martin,Olsen,Martini,Swank,Mitroff all hit the ball hard for PR. Swank and Martini hit homeruns as well. Swank with one arm hit one to left.

Did the Skyhawks hang a white flag over their dugout? Choosing to not pitch Grundy against the best team in the division is kind of curious. Don't you agree Roy?
Friday night it was Highland Park over a tough Grant team, 14-4.
The game was tied going into the bottom of the 6th when HP scored 10. Jason Stein had a grand slam and 7 RBI's in the 6th.
Jim Risi went deep twice. Nine different players have gone deep for HP this year. Kyle Stroup went deep (very deep!) for Grant.

The Prairie Ridge Wolves have clinched the FVC Fox Division with their win today against CL Central, 8-4. The Ridge is now 20-8 overall, and 11-0 in conference. No team has ever gone undefeated in the fox valley conference, but the Wolves have an opportunity to do just that with just 4 conf. games remaining. Nick Martini went 2 for 4 with a double and Michael Heesch pitched a complete game, and struck out eight. Adam Nisenson went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI for the CLC Tigers.

Anyone know how Oak Park and Downers North did in their Saturday DH?
Willowbrook splits DH with leyden, first game leyden wins 9-0
second game was a great game. Jon Weaver and Nick Cuzzone got the start for their respective teams. going into the bottom of the 7th leyden was up 2-1, willowbrook loaded the bases and got a clutch single from dean whiteside to tie it up, and andy wilhoit gets the walk off sac fly. I hope when Jon reads this he understands he pitched a hell of a game, prolly had 10k's or so. Cuzzone went the distance with also probably around 10 k's

To FVCFAN08. I think that you are misreporting here. PR is not undefeated in the FVC. In fact, they have lost three games in the conference. PR is currently undefeated in the Fox Valley Fox division, but like you said, they still have four games remaining. If the other coaches pitch their best pitchers against them, they still have some work to do. Also, to put it in perspective, Prairie Ridge is the only 4A school in a division of all 3A teams. How would the 3A teams do if they were competing in divisions of only 2A schools? With that being said, PR is definitely a deserving Fox Divsion champion, as they are truly the best team in the division. Congratulations Wolves.

First time I've had pleasure to watch this phenom Oderezzi this season. Consistently threw 92-94 fastballs to go with a nasty slider. Several high ranking Major League Cross Checker Scouts on hand. Only slight negative I heard was perhaps not as much movement on fastball as they'd like but lots of praise with regards to his pinpoint control and ability to keep down. They said chance he'll go late first round or second in MLB draft. He appears to be real good kid from good family which makes story all the better. By way, he's 8-0, 57 IP, 2 Unearned Runs, 0 Earned runs...unbelievable!!! and they play a very tough St. Louis area schedule - Edwardsville, Belleville's, etc.

Masher,

BBFan58, Are you aware of Grant's W/L this year?
Grant, tough? In what way?
Jkennedy & mythreesons - Yep. I'm aware. Grant is 8 - 13. SO? Can't anyone give credit where it is deserved? Anyone can play tough, which is what I stated. Grant held a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the 4th. HP started slow (Risi HR in the 1st) and scored another run in the bottom of the 4th before tying it up in the 5th. HP bats came alive, like they have most of the season, and scored 10 in the 5th to end it, 14-4. SO, perhaps Grant is having a tough year but I enjoyed the game until we broke it open. Win or lose, I don't like "mercy rule" games. I prefer tight games. Also, I have a soft spot for Grant, as I started my freshman year there in 1962 before moving to Mt. Prospect (who we play in the regional game).
Today Highland Park beat Niles West 11-1 in 5, to go 19-5 on the year and take the CSL North.

I don't have any clue. I don't think Geisey would surrender to anyone. Even with my personal opinion of how he does things...I know him well enough that he would never do that. McHenry is dangerous with Badgley on the mound. Cary is good but I think VERY beatable in the other division. Right now today...I think PR has all the pieces in place and fireing on all cylanders. But on any given day....

Well no, BBFan, it's not what you stated. But that's ok. One of my son's close friends plays for Grant, and I'm sure your "tough" line gave him a chuckle. Congratulations to Highland Park on a very successful year.

Sam Dickstein from Deerfield pitches a gem and beats Highland Park 1-0 in 7 innings.
sam dickstein silenced their bats, and ended their 13 game winning streak! 4 strike outs and one walk, these 2 teams are rivals and the atmosphere was intense. it was a great baseball game! no highland park player hit more than a single!
Joe Biagini launched 3 home runs tonite for Glenbard South against Rochelle. Biagini has 11 home runs and 48 RBI's on the season playing against a tough schedule. He is hitting over .500 and his OB% is over .500 as well.
