Schaumburg 16
Lake Park 9

Schaumburg can hit up and down the lineup. They had us down 8-1 early and we made it a game at 8-4. We just couldn't keep them from scoring. D'Agata had 2 Hr's, Mistrata had a HR, and Pusateri had a HR. Lake Park never gave up though and even with the score 12-4 we came back to make it 12-9. Mario Fearon for LP was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's.
Tuesday HP 14-1 over Niles North, Thursday HP over NN 10-0 as junior Rick Johnston made his first varsity start.
Wednesday HP took it on the chin and every other body part vs. New Trier. HP battled to tie the score 8-8 going into the bottom of the 6th. HP changed pitchers and NT roasted the 2 new HP hurlers, scoring 10 runs to beat HP 18-8. Great day for the wind to be blowing out; the only miracle of the game was that each team only hit 2 home runs, none by Risi.
HP is now 7-5, with 3 of the losses by 1 run, one by 2 runs. So, at least they're battling.

BBFan58,

Is Risi seeing any pitches this year, or is he just pressing? For some reason, I have noticed that some high profile seniors who are lined up with their colleges seem to really have trouble their last year. I was wondering if it is because they are just pressing a bit or if they somewhat feel that they have the weight of the team on their shoulders since they are supposed to have such a good year? I have seen Jimmy play from the beginning when he was an 8 year old on the Highland Park 9 year travel team and points throughout and he has always amazed me with his ability to crush the ball.
Hopperhop,
He might be pressing a tad now, although his elbow is pretty sore. In our first gane of the season down in Tennessee he hit a 3 run homer in his first at bat and hit a second HR in the third game in TN. SO far he has 2 at Wolters. However, his left elbow has been sore after each of his pitching outings which might be affecting his swing. This year he is well protected in the lineup as everyone is capable of hitting the ball. It's hard to pitch around him this year. I do believe he is leading the team in hitting.

The Lancers over came deficits of 3, 5, and 4 to take the win. With the Lancers down 9-5 Mario Fearon hit a grand slam to make it a game. With the score 12-8 with one out in the 7th the wheels fell off of BG as they walked or hit 8 LP players in the inning. Mario Fearon capped a great day with his second grand slam. That along with a triple, an RBI ground out, and a HBP. 3 for 4 with 2 Slams and 9 RBI's. Terrible game if you like pitching, but awesome to be on the winning end. Borenstein from BG went deep twice too.

Lake Park is now 8-4.

Coach Czar, congrats on a very successful weekend. For the first time in years, I stayed dry that weekend. Big Grin
It was Whitney Young (12-3) 3-1 over visiting Simeon.

Dai Bowden put the Dolphins ahead with a one run blast over the right field fence. Jack Cinomon was the winning pitcher going the distance allowing 2 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Eight former travel team Chicago Clubbers were on the field playing for either Simeon or Young.

Dai Bowden - Young
Jack Cinamon - Young
Jon Dorsey - Simeon
Steve Florence - Simeon
Gabe Henriques - Young
Christian Hickman - Young
Jason Ormond - Young
Ryan Williams - Simeon

8 Inning game.
Mario Fearon again goes deep in his first at bat. 3 run HR and a double in the game. Mario is getting the attention he deserves from the colleges he told me where he may go but I am not at liberty to share that info. Exciting game. LaPorta pitched a great game, but 5 unearned runs hurt LP. Brian Serrano came in to pitch the 7th and 8th for the win. Matt Kennedy had the game winning hit with two outs in the 8th to drive in Ryan Wegner. Lake Park is now 9-4.
