Don't think the contestants were weak.....some have very good voices....Taylor was my pick from the beginning.....but he still hasn't won it.......

.....he was my pick because, in this world we live in.....he makes me laugh....... I forget about all the c r a p for a little while.....and I'm entertained.....and happily so.....

Hey Shep....no need for apologies....I respect your opinions....peace to you too......

I have to find a place to hide the laptop tomorrow.....my son, newly arrived for summer vacation, is threatening to take it and hide it.....so he doesn't get an early preview of tomorrow night's result......guess he likes to be surprised....

....what fun is that?
Well the show just ended here on the West Coast.......Kat is talented, but she failed to put her own personal style into her performances.....Taylor took every song, all along....and like him or not...he made them his own.....confident, and consistent.....that has been Taylor. The final song for each illustrated this so well.....

...and to all the naysayers who poked fun at the old gray haired man.....it's so easy to pick up a bottle of coloring and make the gray go away....but that's not for Taylor.....he is what he is....to include being the next American Idol.
Neither one is profoundly talented. One will win, but sustaining a career will be difficult for either one.

Does anyone remember the singer for the band The Commitments (also a movie)?? Now THAT guy could sing the soul, much better than Taylor, but was never heard from again after that film.

Just like America's Next Top Model, the real cream gets discovered long before going into a cattle call scenario(Kelly Clarkson excepted).
Personally I thought it was a crime they both had to sing those songs for the final number--I would have liked to see each of them pick the song of their own choice to finish with---to me both songs stunk, as the judges agreed

I would also like to see them to go to male idol and a female idol---Taylor and Kat are so far apart in what they do, do not get me wrong they are talented but so different, that it is difficult to compare- it has now become a popularity contest not truly a judging of talent
TR..have to agree...those last songs were HORRIBLE! I was REALLY surprised the judges admitted the SONG was bad for Kat. That is the song she will record if selected.....doesn't Simon have any say or influence in that song selection???? I thought he was involved in the recording contract of the winner. It sounded like that was the first time they had heard that song. I think both songs were horrendous....but I thought Taylor salvaged his better than Kat did.

luvbb, as I recall, the judges really only made a big deal about how bad katherine's song was. In case you hadn't noticed (and I don't know how anybody couldn't have noticed!), Randy really, really, really had it out for Katherine. He constantly commented on her redoing songs when Taylor did the same thing. In fact, they were supposed to do that! Also, if you recall last week, he also went off on Katherine for song choice on the song that Clive Davis chose. I am not a big fan of Katherine's, but I did lose all respect (what little I had) for Randy over the past 2-3 weeks. Simon really is the only one who knows what he's talking about.
Actually, I think the judges commented that both the "original" songs were not as good as the singer who was singing them. They did say that Taylor did, however, make it his own.

What I was commenting on was the fact that I was surprised that Simon (who is involved in the record contract of the winner...I believe), would have NO SAY in the song the winner would be releasing first. All three judges sounded surprised at the "original" songs by both contestants. I actually enjoy Simon, and agree with him 90% of the time. He just impresses me that if HE had any say in the song to be recorded...it would NOT have been EITHER of those songs.

However, I agree...Randy has been tough on Kat. BUT....Simon has been hard on Taylor fairly consistently. It really doesn't matter tho....their votes don't count and I sometimes think their opinions sometimes influence voters int he OPPOSITE direction of what they actually said (just to prove them wrong).
Last night while waiting to vote.....I went to Dialidol.com.....and checked back to when there were 24 contestants. In the past 13 weeks Dialidol has consistently picked who would be eliminated.......guess who they picked as receiving the most votes 12 out of these past 13 weeks? Taylor Hicks.....it seems that good old Taylor has pulled in the most votes week after week.....popularity? Of course.....and that same popularity will sell records.....

Big Grin I prefer to think of it as "carefree abandon"! Big Grin Have to agree with you on that comment Randy made to Kat re: song choice the other week (when Clive Davis was the one who chose the song). Talk about sticking your foot in your mouth! Roll Eyes
