Exactly GWFS!!! I think the appeal for Taylor isn't just his voice, but his personality. What he does with his performances - he brings so much fun to each and every one! I don't think he'll win the whole thing, but wouldn't be a huge surprise if so.

Kinda like baseball IMO. You can have two equally talented players, but the one that appears to be having the best time and actually shows he enjoys what he's doing will ALWAYS be the player I'd rather watch!
LAFMOM

You have hit thge nail on the head-- I CAN SEE TAYLOR AND HIS BAND IN THE CASINO LOUNGES even if he doesnt win-- his voice will work great in the recording studio and if he gets the right song he can be a huge recording artist

He is an entertainer which may not make him and American Idol but he will be working 7 days a week for a long time and recoring regardless of whether he wins this AI competition ornot
Hope you are right TR.....because we would miss him. I think Taylor has brought a whole other element to American Idol....the generation that doesn't really rock to Chris' kind of music......

We never watched Idol until this year.....now not only do we watch....but we vote too! Have to tell you....Taylor's phone lines....always busy....
Puhleeeezzzeee!

Taylor is a favorite of the over 65 crowd. They vote, mom, while they are getting the pills counted and lined up for the next day.

Taylor is an old man that can't dance and can't sing. He belongs in a bar...as a bartender.

He reminds me of the drunks that remain at the end of a wedding reception when the bride and groom are gone and mom and dad are wondering how they are going to pay for all of this....and, out of the blue, there is Taylor (with one too many drinks) belting out a song (notice I didn't say tune).

If he wins the competition, TR, I'm coming to Boston to take you and your wife out to dinner. Probably some hot dog/bean place!

Even my 87 year old Mom and her Nurse watch every week--it is great fun and none of them really lose because right after the competiton ends the final 10/12 go on tour and all have record deals

Trust me--Taylor is going to be around for a long time and the moment he is in my area I will go see him person--superb entertainer-- that is his key--he has to be a ball working with a "bar" band--something thta has not been around lately, at least in our region

From the end of the show for two hours after I am not allowed to use the phones-- she has the house phone, her cell amd my cell going for two hours--

Interesting side bar---by calling all the numbers and seeing how busy they were she could somewhat know who the two low vote getters where-- she had them right this week again
I get a kick out of Taylor in a humorous way but don't seriously think he is the winner. My wife, on the other hand, loves him though.

It all depends on who is doing the voting. If the Harry Connick Jr. crowd were to vote heavily, Elliot could win. If the rock & roll crowd were to vote, you would think Chris was in the driver's seat. If all the Mom's out there who watch the show were to vote however, my guess is that Taylor would win big.
Promises to be an interesting week - Elvis theme seems to have been picked with Taylor and to a lesser extent Chris in mind. Elliott will have a challenge finding the right songs - and I have no idea what Kat will do.

As for the eventual winner, I think it is going to come down to Chris and Taylor - with Taylor winning. I don't agree - but picking winners is not about who I would want to see but rather who I think will get the votes. Chris peaked too early in my mind, Kat is running way too scared these days (Her emotions on the results show were really telling), Elliot is not connecting with the general audience - and that leave Taylor.

Taylor old? He's only 29! What does that make most of us????????

By my calculation it makes me just shy of twice his age...we're about even on the gray hair...that must count for something..

Just like Taylor, I couldn't dance my way out of a saloon even with all the six shooters trained at my feet and I've been told to DANCE!

I agree. He certainly seems the most professional in his approach. He's got the energy...and in my mind when he very successfully restructured and powerfully performed Johnny Cash's Walk the Line I thought he would be a slam dunk winner.

I'm now reading alot of comments about him being too one-dimensional...and I agree.

Taylor may very well win this thing.
The OVER 65 crowd for TAYLOR??!! Big Grin My nineteen year old daughter and her friends will be amused to hear that.

I asked my daughter which contestant she feels appeals to the older segment of viewers....and she feels it is Elliott, because of the type of songs he sings. I think she has a valid point.

Interesting to see how some think the "Elvis" theme was picked to help Taylor. Were "Great Love Songs" picked to help Katherine? Was "Queen" picked to help Chris? Were "American Standards" picked to help Elliott? I do not know if the Elvis theme will help Taylor or not....I think a theme of "Blues" or maybe even "Motown" would help Taylor more than "Elvis" (IMO)
