Re: Little League Pitch Count Option

Smokey ·
Pitch count has been debated before on HHBBW. The information is out there if you are willing to educate yourself. This is a step in the right direction. It is ultimately the parent’s responsibility to monitor “pitcher abuse” and pitch count. Coach Chris I agree with you that these counts are at the maximum threshold and IMHO too high. BBfam, the link in JT’s original post opens a “.pdf” formatted file. You need “Adobe Reader” to open and read the document. This is free directly from Abobe.

Find an attorney to help. Some will help with 501(c)(3) applications pro bono. We are going thru the process now. I did all the paperwork myself with the review and guidance of an attorney. It took about 2 or 3 weeks to complete the paperwork. Organize the 1023 strictly in accorance with the instructions and you should be fine. You need to incorporate as a non-profit in your state and get your tax id number using IRS form SS-4 I think it is. You can also call the IRS and get a tax ID # that...

That statement or tag line has nothing to do with the topic we are discussing, in addition to that I think it is rather juvenile that you would even bring it up. If you are not trying to argue with people don't write such condescending remarks. My opinion still stands, take the pitch. There was actually a study done regarding this topic using statistics compilied from Stanford's 1998-2001 varsity baseball team. The point was to create a Take or Not to Take Table. I have included the link to...

Re: Need Advice

Al McCormick ·
Baseball to me is a very mental versus emotional game and I believe throwing bats, helmets, yelling profanity, and yes, evening saying, "My bad," has a residual effect. Let's face it, baseball is a failure game and the sooner a baseball player learns to use failure as a learning opportunity for the next at-bat, fielding attempt, or pitch I believe he will carry it with him his next at-bat, fielding opportunity, or next batter he pitches too. As a coach I used to purchase Coach Glenn Moore's...

I'd imagine each State has some form of "regulatory/governing body" for academics & athletics. Here's the link to Univ. Interscholastic League, who creates the rules in Texas, in conjunction with Texas Education Agency. You'll find new legislation on drug testing, defibrilators, transfers, booster clubs, etc. I think you can order a hard copy, it's pretty extensive... http://www.uil.utexas.edu/ Parent/student agreement:...

Re: Large Recruiting Classes

3FingeredGlove ·
Here is the link to the ASU official site. If you click on the PDF version of the roster, you can see which players are draft eligible. I count 20 out of the 33 rostered players. There is also a breakdown by class, position, state, and handedness of throwing and hitting. There are only 4 sophomores, which I suppose correlates with the departure last year of the recruiting coordinator. There are 10 freshmen. So it seems likely that few of the draft eligibles could expect to receive baseball...

NESCAC is a New England conference of D3 high academic schools that are smaller than the Ivys, but extremely high academic schools. They are all liberal arts and pure sciences, I believe, with no engineering and no business. Williams and Amherst are the top two. Others are Trinity (CT) Bowdoin, Colby, TUfts, etc. You can google it. They are about half the size of the ivys. The best of them have SAT profiles similar to HYP. I'd say your grades and scores are terrific. I'm assuming many of the...

Re: New NCAA Rules on Baseball vs. Academic Aid?

3FingeredGlove ·
LSDBi is the NCAA legislative database, and I don't know of a way to access the info as a PDF. You get to the information by search process. By the way, I believe this is the official way to find out any NCAA rule, since the Manuals are only updated annually. Get there by going to ncaa.org, then Resources (far right on the menu bar), then "Search NCAA legislation & major infractions cases",then Search, then Division I Proposals. Now you can select 2010 from the dropdown, and type in 15...

The way we did it to send SAT or ACT scores unofficially to a coach was one of the following.... If we had the SAT/ACT results by mail already we scanned the results page to a pdf file then attached the pdf file to an e-mail. If it was a recent exam where scores were on-line but not mailed yet we pulled up the online scores and copied and pasted them to a word file then attached them to an e-mail. It would be preferable to use the mailed scores rather than the online scores if you have...

jdfromfla ·
Good question, each forum has resident wisdom (Some more than others but still..) and experience. I see huge upswings in concerns for curves everytime the LLWS comes around but people like ASMI and Dr. Andrews think over-use is the "true" culprit. A convention is an "understanding" between groups or parties. I see folks here talk about the problems in over-use experienced in their journey's all the time. One school of thought is that pitch limits will be "the answer", others see kids...

Or do you think a group of concerned parents can come to better mechanical or training conclusions than an orthopedic surgeon can and have in the past? Just saw this letter from HEB-ISD. http://www.hebisd.edu/pdf/HEBISD_Letter_Community.pdf Looks like Trinity HS is in the cross-hairs now. After reading their statement it makes me real hot under the collar that WFAA feels the need to go about business without following the rules set by the school district and without the district executive committee and the UIL investigating this.

Maybe WFAA did or did not follow specific rules. If Trinity HS coaches did not, will you be just as hot under the collar? Not judging your intent or comment, but I personally get hot under the collar when the actual violation itself gets pushed aside when trying to point blame at something that comes after. Such as blaming WFAA for not following rules when their intent is to point out a violation itself. Wake Up America... Are HS athletics really that important to jeopordize integerity,...

Distance determind by how fast a ball is pitched, or spins in the pitch, what angle it is hit. .39 45 degree off the bat for max carries. just read the conclusions, wrist roll no help, upswing is best... so the 180 guy that centers the ball with good batspeed at the right angle or can hit curves better... wins. http://webusers.npl.illinois.e...an/pob/AJP-Nov03.pdf
