Not trying to add fuel here, but I’ve noticed something that could be important. First, when we talk about the swing, what exactly are we talking about? I mean from start to finish? Second, I am more convinced than ever that some of the biggest debates revolve around terminology rather than belief. For example, I’m pretty sure that “hsbaseballcoach” doesn’t exactly mean the swing starts with the hands. Rather I think he was describing how the hands work in conjunction with the rest of the...

Round One: The only times I've worn my hat backwards is if I'm racing someone or if I'm catching. I'm under the impression that catchers alone have the right to wear the hat backwards. I know this sounds weird but my mom always encouraged me to do it so she could "see my eyes." Of course, she's a mom, so I'll cut her some slack. The backward hat sitings have become fewer and farther between for me. My opinion is the same as with the general uniform: if your bringing attention to yourself...

Re: Eastern Discrict -Predictions/Impact Players

Diamond Stalker ·
The biggest difference with the Eastern District and the other districts is that most of the players do not break off from recreation ball. Whereas the talented players from the other districts have gone onto AAU for better coaching and better competition at an early age. During the summer of their early teen years most Eastern District kids are still playing on the All Star team and some sort of Select Sunday team. Most of the players also do not seek out personal lessons to correct the...

HaHa Midlo Dad - I agree with you, but the fact is that pretty much happens today. First, with the ED and coach support "triangle". In that case coach describes how he can get things done with admissions in ED but not in regular decision, so the kid has to make a choice now. Second, after the financial aid packages go out, it is perfectly acceptable to compare aid packages offered by several schools and then ask your desired school if they can match something. Aid packages get "matched" all...

Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby." - Ed Lynch, Mets' pitcher

?If you settle for nothing now, you will settle for nothing later.? By taking the grooved 3-0 pitch your settleing for nothing now. And you may end up settleing for nothing later. Not trying to argue with anyone here. I respect everyones opinion. And everyone has different approaches to the game based on the experiences in the game they have had. According to the LLWS media guide the "only" player to play in all three was Jason Varitek and Ed Vosberg. You probably got the question from something that was published before Varitek played in the WS. 7 other players played in both the LLWS and the World Series. Mets fans are hoping Lastings Milledge will join this select group in a couple months.

NHSlinger, Well being his height does have some disadvantages as well. Drivers Ed was an adventure as was trying to find a car for him. From what i am told i guess he is quite an attraction getting in and out of his car (96 Taurus) at school. As far as college goes, he still has a lot of work to do to fine tune his skill set for that level. He did not pitch during the HS season, but went 2-0 for his legion team and did pitch a few innings at the state tournament as well. He is also trying to...

Re: Decisions, Decisions...

dominick ·
Cost/money is a personal decision only. Aside from that, as far as recruiting goes, DIII is much different from DI. Everybody is technically a walk-on at DIII, but obviously if a coach at a solid academic school is pushing for you, that is about as much a committment that you can get from a DIII. ED is very important at DIII. I would say that it is sort of or roughly the equivilant of NLI at the DI level. Good luck.

The whole purpose, IMHO, of ED at the D-III schools (or any, for that matter) is FINANCIAL. Those schools are numbers-driven and the more ED they get, the easier it is for the school to budget. Of course, the more ED you get, the more you need Cialis....

I am always amazed at the number of people who would rather avoid the question than expose the truth. We don't know if these guys took steroids or not bot if anything is hurting the game it is those who take steroids. It is cheating and gives them a huge advantage over straight players. I have seen what it can do. It is like putting a tiger in your tank at the risk of serious helth problems. Why should a clean player be put under pressure to compete by taking steroids. Every school is different, and generalities are of limited help. However, I do not believe that DIII coaches, at any sport, keep their fingers crossed and hope that people show up. The only method by which they can assure themselves of a certain stable of players, and players at positions they need, is through ED. I do not think that this is just a sales pitch when a coach asks for ED from a prospective player. I know there are coaches and others who have direct experience in this, and I...

Jerry, Take heart - he ruined my day a few years ago as well. Although it was personal - and not business. Just a little insight from a parent who has had an "experience" with Bear. Just the facts. Several years ago - my eldest son went to one of his tournaments. My son had a leg injury at the time - but was still able to play. Bad weather - but we got a few games in. In the last game we played - we played Bear's team. My eldest son - from a baseball perspective - destroyed his team. He hit...

I have one on my right as well, I have an All-Star chest protector. I don't think it hinders my thrwoing motion at all. Battleball or Dodgeball should be a varsity sport. At my kids HS there is an elective gym class and I think it's called Alternaive Sports where they play games you don't find on TV. There's a waiting list to get in and when they play games there are usually more spectators than many other school sports. They play water polo, cricket, Rugby, canoe racing, and many others. They will also make up their own games that involves documenting rules, testing, and fine tuning. It is very co-ed and...
