Taylor Eikenberry, LHP, Rock Falls- verbal to Baylor
Congradulations to 2009 LHP Dietrich Enns of Lincoln-Way East HS, on his verbal commitment to Central Michigan University.
Another 2010. Reid Roper from Harrisburg to Illinois.
As we come down to the wire, does anybody know of any more players reaching an agreement before the early signing period?
Congratulations to bballdad1954's son Josh Levy -C Niles North -Norwood Blues - on committing to Heartland Community College !
Heartland DEFINITELY got a good one
Heartland DEFINITELY got a good one
Thanks for the kind words.
Josh was impressed with Coach Metzger and believes the young and dedicated coaching staff will help him continue to improve his game. They already have a quality group of players that Josh klnows and likes, Dillon Napoleon from New Trier, hsbaseballweb's own Jon Weaver from Leyden, and ex-Blues players Eric Aguilera, Matt Igara, and the Crook bros.just to name a few. They will have a brand new turf stadium and they care about the acedemics. I think Josh made a wise choice and I am proud of him. Plus, I can see my share of games.

Congrats to a terrific CSL player. Never a doubt who the quarterback on that baseball team was. Good luck.

I might have told you this before but Coach Metzger is a friend of mine. One of my players played for him at Heartland. He had a great experience. I also think that Coach Metzger has surrounded himself with some great baseball people. I've spent some time with them at various clinics and they know their stuff.
Congrats to you and your son Bballdad!
Hearing nothing but great things about that program. Best wishes.

Congratulations to BBallDad and Josh on the truly wonderful news. Heartland gets another great student, and athlete, and family!
We are looking forward to having him down here. I have heard nothing but good things about him from Igara and Aguilera.
Now he can relax and just play... I know that was my favorite part about committing.

Thanks again to all my hs baseball web friends. Your kind words are appreciated. I truly enjoy reading all your thoughts on the website whether I agree ot not. Baseball truly is America's sport.
Tanner Bushue RHP from South Central HS to John A. Logan JC.
Did either Tanner or Josh have D1 offers?
I was going to say that I have heard so many good things about both players. It was hard for me to imagine that they did get some D1 attention.
I should probably congratulate Illinois Valley Central's Justin Parr on his commitment to Parkland.
Josh did not have any offers. He had some contacts and was advised to wait until spring if he wanted to play D1. In the end, he really felt that he will have a positive experience at Heartland. He may be able to play at a D1 school down the road, as many JUCO players do.
Heartland was not something he settled for, it was something he wanted to do because of the coaches, new facilities, and the other players there.

Heartland is a great option. They have great facilities for both academics and athletics. The apartments where the players live are very nice also. They have great kids/players on the roster and nobody works harder than Coach Metzger.
Congratulations to 2009 RHP Dan Huenecke of Palatine HS, on his commitment to Belmont University.
Dan is an excellent pitcher. I have seen him several times, most recently at the Rec Park All-star game. Congratulations to him.

Casey Rautenstrauch - 6'5 185 RHP - Goreville HS to Eastern Illinois.
Just got a peek at the USBA Showcase results and was pleased (but not surprised) to see Joey Cecchi ranked in the top five for pitchers at the showcase, with gun readings consistently at 86. Joey is garnering quite a bit of interest, could be a two-way guy, with great defensive skills and a quick bat.
Congrats to Josh Levy! this is truely a first class kid! he can also play baseball. he is a strong hitter and has a great arm (he can catch and also play the outfield). this kid will be an impact player at heartland. my prediction is this will position him to go on to a D1 program after 2 years! He is joining some solid players already there. he is a leader and will shine at the next level!! for anextra treat have him and his dad sing old dylan songs........on second thought...watch this young man on the baseball field! way to go!
Good to hear of Joey's good showing. He is a great kid and is serious about his baseball. I know that he has worked hard to get where he is. I am looking forward to seeing him on the bump come spring time.

Let me throw in a late congratulations & "way to go" to BB Dad & Josh upon reading the news about Heartland. I haven't been able to get on here in awhile and it was nice to review all the recent commits.
We look forward to seeing Josh over the winter break and playing against him when our schools meet. Always a pleasure to be around Josh & his dad.
Also nice to hear about Robert Kennedy & Bradley. Both schools landed top players!
