Katherine did not perform or act confident last night...being the only female contestant remaining and having to select from Elvis' songs made it especially tough on her...I think she is bending under the pressure.

Paris probably could have handled the pressure better...she is so mature beyond her years...seemed to understand completely what the whole competition is about and she seemed to remain quite relaxed...very important characteristic going forward. It didn't help Paris with the voters... you tell her Hawk Harrelson..."She gone!".

If it's Taylor who gets the boot you want us to break it to you gently...

Let's see...I've got a sky writer all lined up and if the weather is not suitable for that then I've got both the MetLife and the Goodyear blimps ready to go.

Those methods of conveying to you the identity of the unfortunate contestant may be spectacular and bold, but they are either wispy or lighter than air...will that be gentle enough LadyNmom?

DBat....I'll agree that Chris has talent...but think there is a silent majority out there that likes the gray haired guy and the one with summer teeth.....who would think?

There is a strong possibility Chris will get a recording contract....as you say Luvbb...he must have looked and felt really shocked....as are a lot of his fans......Good luck to him.....
Rz....you are correct in that I think a lot of it is a popularity contest....but.....talent still counts. It's obvious I'm a Taylor fan...but last night we tried to vote for Elliott based on his performance....I say try....because his phone lines were constantly busy.....we could not get through......we thought he did an outstanding job.....but as most things in life.....it's all in the eye or ear of the beholder.....

Don't want to label Taylor, Elliott or Katherine as "old timers", but I do think they have appealed to a wider spectrum of viewers than Chris.......all age groups......and maybe that's the key to success for an AI.....

What was Simon's response? What did the other judges say?

Seriously, Ryan waited until the LAST MINUTE to make the announcement as to who was going home. I think Chris only got to sing a couple of seconds from "Suspicious Minds" before the commercial came on. Judges didn't get a chance to say anything...but when they showed them, I do NOT think Paula was crying, which I felt was unusual for her! LOL.

Ryan did ask Simon right BEFORE the announcement who he felt would go home. Simon said "Based on LAST NIGHT'S performance...Katherine". Ryan did a good job of setting Simon up! Big Grin
Did I hear where someone tried to vote for Elliott or Taylor and they couldn't get through to vote for hours?

Now that is DEDICATION!!!!

Is this thing FIXED? I listened to both Chris and Taylor sing tonight. Must not be hearing right or something. There is absolutely NO comparison as to who is the better singer between those two. Is it even close?
Agree with Beenthere that Katharine has great talent(not refined yet) and is very attractive and I believe will be the most successful of any contestant yet once she learns how to channel her talent.

Also agree that Taylor is a favorite of the over 60 crowd...over 50 crowd....over 40
crowd....probably over 30 crowd and maybe even over 20 crowd. Big Grin

Didn't see a whole lot of 60 year old+ people in the audience going crazy over his performances, and don't know many that even watch the "Idol".

Chris has a good voice but his music of choice doesn't resonate(is that a word?) with the
average person. I think people want to "feel good" and that's what Taylor does-makes us feel good. Does he have the best voice-no-but it's not bad. Can he dance like Michael Jackson-no but neither could Elvis. Can he entertain-HE## YES!

When my 18 year old daughter, and 49 year old wife both jump up cheer at the end of his songs I think that's a pretty good indicator of why he's still around.

It IS a popularity contest.

He gets the same reaction from my wife and daughter. Not my cup of tea, but he clearly seems to have momentum and certainly appears to have great popularity - as evidenced by the posts supporting him in this thread.
