Katherine did not perform or act confident last night...being the only female contestant remaining and having to select from Elvis' songs made it especially tough on her...I think she is bending under the pressure.
Paris probably could have handled the pressure better...she is so mature beyond her years...seemed to understand completely what the whole competition is about and she seemed to remain quite relaxed...very important characteristic going forward. It didn't help Paris with the voters... you tell her Hawk Harrelson..."She gone!".
Okay....on to more pleasant things.....guys.....don't forget to post the winner.....you let me down last Wednesday! I hate suspense.....have enough of that going on today.....Please, someone, anyone, on EST.....post who is exiting on EST. Thank you....and if it's Taylor.....break it to me gently......

I think the paper bag it was in got wet and the bottle fell through the bottom.
LadyNMom - I'll post it for ya!!! It won't be our guy!
LadyNmom:
If it's Taylor who gets the boot you want us to break it to you gently...
Let's see...I've got a sky writer all lined up and if the weather is not suitable for that then I've got both the MetLife and the Goodyear blimps ready to go.
Those methods of conveying to you the identity of the unfortunate contestant may be spectacular and bold, but they are either wispy or lighter than air...will that be gentle enough LadyNmom?

Woodman....thanks, but think I'll rely on my buddy Lafmom to convey the news.....a blimp would be a little too over the top.....even for Katherine.......

Oh, my gosh!!!! Who is the last one you'd expect to be gone?!?!?! OK, westcoasters, here it is - don't scroll down if you don't want to know!
Chris was voted off! I'm serious!!!
Chris was voted off! I'm serious!!!
I'm following this on a blog....and think there is going to be a lot of unhappy people tomorrow...gosh darn.....what a surprise....the bottom two.....and
Chris gone! Did they say who the top vote getter was?
Chris gone! Did they say who the top vote getter was?
Gross injustice!
My favorite is Taylor but I felt Chris was clearly the best. Still think Chris will be the biggest star of the group. Pity.

Ladynmom...we only know that Taylor and Elliott were in the top group. Katherine was with Chris in the bottom two.
Chris is going to do fine....BUT....he was obviously SHOCKED by his bottom finish....he clearly was shell-shocked by the look on his face.

DBat....I'll agree that Chris has talent...but think there is a silent majority out there that likes the gray haired guy and the one with summer teeth.....who would think?
There is a strong possibility Chris will get a recording contract....as you say Luvbb...he must have looked and felt really shocked....as are a lot of his fans......Good luck to him.....

Chris has already had an offer to take over as front man for TRAIN
With Chris and Ace gone my wife says the show is no longer worth watching.
it's turned into a popularity contest. Then again when you look at an idol by definition, it is in the eye of the beholder. I think the Ted Mack concept had it right years ago. When a viewer has a vote it will keep the interest up for the duration and ad dollars at a premium.
Luvbb - You're right! I think everyone was shocked. Katerine looked like she fully expected to be gone and then when Ryan announced Chris, she was shocked, Chris was shocked, everyone was!!!
Rz....you are correct in that I think a lot of it is a popularity contest....but.....talent still counts. It's obvious I'm a Taylor fan...but last night we tried to vote for Elliott based on his performance....I say try....because his phone lines were constantly busy.....we could not get through......we thought he did an outstanding job.....but as most things in life.....it's all in the eye or ear of the beholder.....
Don't want to label Taylor, Elliott or Katherine as "old timers", but I do think they have appealed to a wider spectrum of viewers than Chris.......all age groups......and maybe that's the key to success for an AI.....

Here is the way I picked em...
1 - Taylor
2 - Elliott
3 - Katherine
4 - Chris
Or was it just the opposite of that?

Comeon PG. We were BOTH wrong on Chris. Have to root for Soul Patrol, now!
I am shocked Chris is gone but did feel his second song last night was a loser
PG....JT's right....throw your support to Taylor.....you won't be sorry.....and you still know how to pick very good ball players....who probably can't sing......and don't need to...
.
CD...
I'm hoping that it was all a mistake and Chris Win's on the West coast when we see it in a couple hours.....
You know how idol loves to build drama...what better way than to bring him back just when you think he is gone...
Kinda like Survivor...

I was at my daughter's choir concert tonight and missed the show---I am absolutely shocked, but then again, really not surprised. He will be a star, he already is. Wow.
What is the theme for next week's show?
What was Simon's response? What did the other judges say?

Seriously, Ryan waited until the LAST MINUTE to make the announcement as to who was going home. I think Chris only got to sing a couple of seconds from "Suspicious Minds" before the commercial came on. Judges didn't get a chance to say anything...but when they showed them, I do NOT think Paula was crying, which I felt was unusual for her! LOL.
Ryan did ask Simon right BEFORE the announcement who he felt would go home. Simon said "Based on LAST NIGHT'S performance...Katherine". Ryan did a good job of setting Simon up!
This could not have happened, could it. I still think that Chris will make it bigger then any of the final 3.
I can't complain though, I did not vote.

Uh,Oh...
If Dooer from NorCal says Chris is gone then my theory may be wrong and Chris....

Did I hear where someone tried to vote for Elliott or Taylor and they couldn't get through to vote for hours?
Now that is DEDICATION!!!!
Is this thing FIXED? I listened to both Chris and Taylor sing tonight. Must not be hearing right or something. There is absolutely NO comparison as to who is the better singer between those two. Is it even close?

PG:
I agree with you, but keep in mind that this competition is not solely about singing...it's about being entertained...and according to those that voted, Taylor is more successful at entertaining than Chris at this point.
Chris will do fine in his career...he just won't be distinguished as the American Idol.

Next week....three songs each....one of the contestant's choice, one judges choice, and one Clive Davis' choice (or...so I read! )
In terms of the voting once you turn it over to the general public anything can happen and usually the wrong talent gets eliminated.
Remember when the Cinncy Reds fans stuffed the ballot boxes for their favorites

A day of drama on the hsbbweb yesterday and now everyone is moving a little slow this morning I see
I still can't believe Chris lost
I know the reasons that have been posted, but it is hard to accept.
If Taylor does the Michael McDonald/Doobie Brothers classic "Takin it to the Streets," he will bring the house down.

Taylor, in my opinion, is an old man who can't sing and dance but is a favorite of the over 60 crowd.
If Kat doesn't win this competition, there is no justice in the world.
Elliott and Taylor are "hamburgers" compared to her talent. She's a good looking woman, too.

Okay PG....not hours trying to vote! We would try periodically..... Why is everyone so surprised about Chris? Don't think a rocker has taken first place yet.... and Been....there may not be justice in this world....but there are singers who can remember the lyrics.....
Agree with Beenthere that Katharine has great talent(not refined yet) and is very attractive and I believe will be the most successful of any contestant yet once she learns how to channel her talent.
Also agree that Taylor is a favorite of the over 60 crowd...over 50 crowd....over 40
crowd....probably over 30 crowd and maybe even over 20 crowd.
Didn't see a whole lot of 60 year old+ people in the audience going crazy over his performances, and don't know many that even watch the "Idol".
Chris has a good voice but his music of choice doesn't resonate(is that a word?) with the
average person. I think people want to "feel good" and that's what Taylor does-makes us feel good. Does he have the best voice-no-but it's not bad. Can he dance like Michael Jackson-no but neither could Elvis. Can he entertain-HE## YES!
When my 18 year old daughter, and 49 year old wife both jump up cheer at the end of his songs I think that's a pretty good indicator of why he's still around.
It IS a popularity contest.

He gets the same reaction from my wife and daughter. Not my cup of tea, but he clearly seems to have momentum and certainly appears to have great popularity - as evidenced by the posts supporting him in this thread.
I miss Kellie.
