Several Texas D1 baseball programs have been or are on the verge of being "disciplined" by the NCAA for allowing their academic standards to slip. At least two Texas Big 12 schools will lose 1+ scholarships (roughly 10% of their total). The problem is not limited to baseball, but this isn't the HS-FB-WEB. I know this is not necessarily a new topic but...who should shoulder the primary blame? There is no right or wrong answer and obviously there are numerous factors and enough blame to spread evenly....but....other than reporting early season scores and successes, this topic may generate discussion....and hopefully open the eyes of some parents, coaches, and athletes.

The NCAA (hypocritical rules?)

The head coach or recruiting coordinator

The AD (inappropriate focus?)

The athlete (inappropriate priorities?)

The athlete's high school (inadequate college prep?)
