I agree with you Coach. I was thinking the same thing as I was watching Cutler on the sidelines. I don't know the nature of his injury...but I'd think the leader of the offense would have tried to tough it out a little? You'd think he would of rallied his teammates around him and said..."Hey, I'm not mobile right now fellas, I need to stay in the pocket. But if you protect me and give me time, I'll help lead us to Victory!" Unfortunately, this is what I see in Cutler...great talent, with a...

Re: Concussions

We used to call a concussion "getting your bell rung." It was very common to have a concussion go out for a few plays and then go back in that game. And almost always you played the next week. This was also common in the NFL. Now that more information has come out and the spotlight has put on this situation new rules have been put in place and I am sure more will come. Borderline guys , guys that are just hanging on to stay in the league will try to cover their concussions up. They will lie...

They have testing called IMPACT that was designed by neurological physicians from the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. It is much harder to cheat the computer. For the NFL, it's a drop in the bucket to pay for it. For high schools, some places won't see it for awhile because it's not cheap. It requires a baseline test done at the beginning of a season and then 24 hours after head injury. Then, they continue to test everyday or 2 until the scores are back to baseline. This would...

Difference in sports...in footbal this same hit on a defenseless person would be on the NFL network glamorizing the tough play of someone like Ronnie Lott or Jack Tatum. Being an Angel fan in So Cal, we can see him on TV every game. By this time, my assumption is that the entire league has a scouting report on how to pitch to Trout, but he seems to be making adjustments quite well... As of his overall defensive and offensive play and numbers right now, he's currently the best baseball player in the league. He plays the game of baseball the way Ronnie Lott played the game of football. His swing is so short and quick, he makes hard contact (whether it be fair...

The CFSL has been around for a few years. It has been a work in progress for at least three years or so. He's been a scout for the Mets, A's and a few other teams I believe. He's a good guy. That sounds like a great event bchamp. I wonder where it was held?! Maybe Bort fell asleep in the dugout and dreamed it. Here's the real deal: Individual Time = start this drill while I go over to this other group and get them started. I didn't see any individual time given to a participant. And no more feedback than you would see at any tryout. As for an evaluation, no one on one feedback and no evaluation sent to the player. No, he didn't win the Heisman but he did win the Doak Walker as the Best Running back in college football. I don't see him as a Csonka type because I don't think there are many/any like him. Gerhart is a very good receiver. He is also a very tough runner with deceptive speed. There is part of the way he plays that reminds me of Tom Rathman, but he is faster and a better runner. Probably not as good a blocker, yet. There is also a part of him that reminds me of Roger Craig. If you look at the...

Can you name one 49er during the time Walsh was the coach and GM and Lott played who ever acted on the field the way Manny acts on the field? Cleveland - I was watching #31 - when he was "off the ball" - it wasnt easy to do given all the exciting action. He was delivering some hard core blows to anyone on the field that wasnt paying attention - and to others who were. LOL As you said - reminded me of Ronnie Lott - John Lynch - Jack Tatum - and Terry Kinard - just not as big.

Exactly my point, if an organization is going charge a fee for some percieved value or exposure given by xyz of said MLB team, then present xyz as an associate. This is not meant as a slight against Mr. Lott, he may be a fine instructor, but for the paying public who may not know any better, full disclosure should be the norm. Then again maybe you feel there is not a distinction between a paid employee scout and an associate "bird dog".

It seems reasonable to ask ARod to explain exactly what he took. But.... There is a real downside to doing that, and the recent situation involving Michael Phelps illustrates it. Phelps apologized, but didn't say what he apologized for. Apparently, if he had, he would have been charged in South Carolina. As it is, a picture of him with a bong and no admission of any defined activity left the local authorities with no case. So ARod, who presumbably has the benefit of professional advice, has...

I always thought Ronnie Lott was the dirtiest player to ever be in the NFL. It always disgusted me to hear him lauded as a "tough guy". There never was and never will be anything tough or brave about teeing off on defenseless people. The idea of players carried out on their shields was never a great look for the NFL IMO. Watching a guy like Earl Campbell run the ball was exhilarating when he powered through tacklers. The price he paid for it was terrible. So with that said I think RJM makes...
