Getting the cap off of a bat

Re: Going to get a New Bat (need suggestions)
Do not get a torque. Unless they have gotten any better since the old model (orange one), they are made of a very weak alloy. If you hit with any power what so ever, and I imagine you do since the reg flex is too much, it is not the bat for you. I can't hit with it at all because when I swing hard, the bat seems to give a lot when you make contact, and it bends back at the same time. Definitely not a good bat.The stiff stealths are supposed to be good, but all the stealths I have heard can...

Re: Midlothian advances to title game with 9-2 win over Sumter, SC
Keep us posted, we're hoping all turns out OK. Hopefully this turns out to be a cautionary lesson and not something he has to pay for. BTW, Coach Milburn, in the adult league around here we had a couple of those 30+ arm breaks occur. In fact I understand they happen with some frequency around the country in "weekend warrior" leagues. The problem is the throwing muscles get strong but nobody works on the support muscles, and the arm gets torqued to death. But that's a topic for another day.

Re: Midlothian advances to title game with 9-2 win over Sumter, SC
vabraves11, That is not the greatest news. I always hesitate to give advice in these cases, but it might be worth the time, money, and trouble to go visit Dr. Andrews in Alabama. Only reason I say this is because timing can be very important in these things, especially if TJ surgery becomes a reality. If TJ is performed entering the fall of your sophomore year it's a lot better than in the spring of your sophomore year. That's taking into consideration rehab and recovery time before reaching...

Re: Heavy bat for growing boy
I think TG is right on here. My oldest son used -8.5 in 11u and 12u, then a -5 this year in 13u. This fall he's onto a 31/28 exogrid which he will use for Freshman ball next Spring. This seems to be a pretty common path. We've experimented with so many bats the last several years that you really get to know their characteristics. Demarini makes the most durable bats, no dings dents or anything. Stealths are really good, not as top heavy as the Demarini and the ball jumps a bit more. My 13u...

Re: Baseball: An Offensive Game or a Defensive Game
Consenus would appear to be that pitching is considered defensive. IMO it's OFFENSIVE. One warrior at the plate attacking a ball another on the mound attacking the hitter

Re: Baseball: An Offensive Game or a Defensive Game
But, it is the Pitchers job to prevent or limit scoring! He can't score, especially if he's in the American League where the DH is employed!

Re: Baseball: An Offensive Game or a Defensive Game
Again we have an example of the defense working to prevent the offense from WINNING the game. A pitcher can throw a no hitter and lose the game. Nobody has won a game in which their offense didn't score. Ever.

Re: Suggestions for Freshman to make Varsity
I understand that there are usually "fill" positions on rosters, however, I doubt any coach worth his weight would sacrifice the strength of a team in favor of seniority. I still stick by guns and tell him to be "who he is", always give 110%, and take no prisoners. Everyone has long and short term goals, but a true "warrior" should always have "micro-goals" buried in their soul. These goals are not meant to be shared with anyone, but rather be the catalyst that lights the competitive drive.

Ah, no easy you see. Long ago Apache skinned tatanka much differently than Nocahoma. Some of the painted warriors father did not like. One mother, Kicking Bird, no like either. So painted warrior father and Kicking Bird took to tribe council. No more different tatanka. Now, Chief Nocahoma hear mention of JUGS. Nocahoma use JUGS to carry natures nectar from stream. JUGS no measure how fast a cottontail run. JUGS carry water. Trade good JUGS for indian STALKER.

Re: Paying your dues
They keep track of W-L's as a starter for hockey goalies and football quarterbacks, but that's not the point. Who do you want on the mound? The pitcher who keeps his ERA pure while feeling no responsibility for the unearned runs, or the warrior who sees a fielding error as the cue for him to step up and battle? My concern is that some coaches, parents, and players lean on ERA in a manner that permits an "I did my job" mentality that should have no place in team sports. I'll also point out...

I've only actually been to a dozen games in the past two years. We don't live really far from ODU but I cannot make every weekend series. I am planning on making many more games this year though. Perhaps it's mostly my fault I've not met some of the parents, but that's the intraverted way I am. I like to watch the games from the stands. Re: When Does NLI Arrive
Warrior, Thanks for the info, we have not heard from anyone in quite some time; I know they have been busy. I didn't want to call them and my son has been consumed with football, playoffs this week. Weeks ago, I had asked for an outline of what we talked about this summer and never heard back from them. Just a concerned parent but I don't want to be a PIA. Of course, we postponed our offical visit so I guess we would have received some info then.

Redbird, I heard tales that Smith left Kempsville. Not sure if it is true, just what I heard. His mom used to post on here, so if you're out there, give an update. Being from Chesapeake and new to the beach, I am quite sure you have left some players out from some beach schools. Master Recruiter Saipan Warrior can probably help more than most. As far as Kellam goes, Grasscutter, I think there will be more competition outside of the lines. That might be where the best games are to watch!!!
